6n2 EGR Warning light, please help

Featured Replies

I have a warning light on, the problem was diagnosed as insufficient flow through the EGR valve. The valve and all surrounding pipes have been cleanes as they were all fairly shitty. However, the warning light is still on, does this mean the problem is still there or does it need taking to VW to reset before the light will go off?

Also will driving with a faulty EGR valve (if it is still faulty) do any serious damage to the engine before it gets repaired?

Please help me :)

Thanking you (on a 6n2 1.4 16v)

No damage mate its just the exhaust recirc valve its there for emissions purposes so don't worry, if you have fixed the problem most faults reset after driving a few hundred miles.. That might be exaggerated but it varies depending on the problem..

Run it and see how you go should just randomly turn off one day..

Its done about a 200mile trip since then and light still on. Least it wont have done any damage.

How hard is it to fit a new EGR valve?

(Thanks for the info, its usually much harder to get a straight answer on here lol)

The ecu just needs reset, its just telling you its stored a fault and to get it checked

Not very..let me have your engine code if you have it and ill see if i can upload the Volkswagen workshop manual for it..

Good point if you want to reset it quicker you could just pull the battery or the ECU fuse and leave it to reset lol..

I think the engine code is AUB. Its a 6n2 1.4 16v but the 100bhp not the 75bhp. Is the engine code the first letters of the engine number on the v5?

All help is much appreciated :)
