Hey guys. Did a little search but couldnt find anything, maybe i used the wrong keywords. Bascially, theres some vauxhall alloys i love and want for my 6n. I no that the center bores are slightly smaller than VW's, how much would it cost to bore them out to VW fitment? Cheers for the help.

Find a local machine shop mate and they should be able to do it for not much.

depending on where you live i could do them for you , Got a massive lathe at work that i used to do mine on.

I had this problem when i put cav slabs on the lupo, its been a while but iirc vauxhals are 56.5mm and vws are 57.1mm do its only 0.6mm, in the end i opted for a bore honer on a drill and opened the center bore until the wheels were a snug fit and never had any problems.

Ah I'm a bit far from Sheffield, thanks for the offer tho! So its only 0.5mm difference. Might have a go myself but is there not a risk of doing it unevenly? Sorry if that sounds a bit silly, just back when i was 17 had a wheel come off my car haha and been cautious ever since when it comes to wheels!!

Double check on the bore sizes mate its been a good year since i did it but the difference was very small, and the risk of doing it unevenly is very small with a honer compared to that of a file (i have used that method as well but took ages and didnt come out perfectly round no matter how carefull i did it).

And yea i bet that was an experience, i came close when i for to tighten my wheels, not done it since put it that way:).

theres a couple of ways you could do it. if you have access to a pillar drill you could use a step drill to enlarge it. the other method would be to mark around the centre bore with a marker pen, rough it out with a dremel then finish by hand with a metal file. its possible to do this to a high degree of accuracy, but it'll take a while to do. the centre bore isnt massively important as the wheels are lug-centric, so can centre the wheels regardless of the center-bore. having the centre bore does help though

I did my Classics with a flap wheel drill attachment. As g40jon says it's not essential that it's accurate (I had a slightly mismatched set and one was a good 1mm too big to start with. No problems with it, just marginally more effort to fit). I'd say if you can't do it accurately, err on the side of taking more off than less. If you take some off until the wheel just fits, you may be off centre and the wheel bolts won't be able to centre the wheel properly.
