Hi all, wondered if somebody could help me out a bit because i'm clueless with electrical stuff! So, my car came with an aftermarket Toad alarm fitted, which is nice, and makes it a bit more secure. I know it also has the ability to be linked to central door locking.

The car doesn't currently have central locking, but i'm fitting an aftermarket remote central locking kit, which is all eeasy stuff. It involves a load of solenoids powered by electric motors, which connect to the door pins and lock/unlock the doors. These are wired up to a black box, which simply has an earth and a live feed to connect to the car.

I will drill a hole to make a suitable earth, and wire the live to a permanent live on the fuse box. However, how do I link the central locking to the alarm?

I have found the Toad instructions, where it shows the 'central door locking' function/setup. It shows how to wire it for: positive trigger locking, negative trigger locking, single wire locking, vacuum locking, additional motor locking, or universal motor driven locking. Of which i'm guessing my setup is 'universal motor driven locking'?

Now, on these instructions, it shows four, different coloured wires (from the alarm), which I have found on the alarm unit. However, it says two go to the 'CDL relay', and two go to the 'drivers door solenoid'. Now my problem is a. I don't have a central door locking relay, and b. the drivers' door solenoid has 5 wires (brown, white, blue, green and another)!

So what goes where??! Any help will be very greatly appreciated! Thanks :-)

really simple

disregard the relay for your central locking kit all you need are the motors and connect as follows

connect the red/black and red/yellow directly to a permanent 12v+ supply

connect the blue/yellow and grey/yellow directly to earth

then connect the grey/red wire to all of the green wires on your central locking motors (may be a different colour)

then connect the blue/red to all the blue wires on your central locking motors(maybe a different colour)

And it is blue and green. So do I have to connect the blue/red to the blue, and grey/red to the green wire on all motors? Or just a drivers or passenger (5 wire) motor? Because I seem to remember that if you press down the door pin on the drivers side, all doors lock?

on all the motors connect them the same

you will lose the feature of pressing down the button and locking the doors

however the toad comes preset to lock the doors with the ignition on

tried doing this yesterday, and it didn't really work..

Connected it all up, drilled a hole in the body and screwed the earth's in, put connectors for the fuse box on the wires that have to go to live. Tested where the permanent live feeds were on the fuse box, then disconnected the battery, and connected all the +I've wires to the fuse box. When i put the +I've battery terminal back on (just hooked the terminal on, without tightening it up), the alarm went off. So I turned the alarm off with the key fob. Then, if i tried to tighten the battery terminal, it would spark and set the alarm off again? I could use the alarm fob to turn it off, but i couldn't seem to turn the alarm on or get the C/L to function in any way?

This may sound really silly, but when this is all connected up correctly, do the doors lock when you set the alarm (with the alarm fob), or the alarm is set when the doors lock (with the C/L fob)??

And any idea why it was doing that with the battery? I have now disconnected the C/L setup and it all seems fine. Have I just got to keep turning the alarm off while I tighten the battery, then when it's tight it might work?!

What could I have done wrong? The live and earth for the C/L kit were connected too, is this right? So i had the 3 earths going to the same place, that alright? And the 3 live's going to live on fuse box.

you don't need to use the live and earth for the central locking kit

i did explain that

you only need to connect the blue and the greens from the central locking motors to the alarm

when connected correctly and you arm the alarm the doors should all lock and when disarming they should unlock

you have wired something incorrectly if it does not work
