no, just get the correct tyre size, 195/45 0n 15s generally

hell no and danny6n gave u the wrong answer, speedo's are always out by 7-8 mph well mine was when i had my 13s on my 6n2, put my 15s on and I'm now within 3mph of accuracy from a sat nav aswell

so my speedo cld be readin 30 mph my sat nav sumtimes reads 29mph.

or if your that bothered take it to a vw dealer and ask them to calibrate your speedo

just fit them and then check it with a sat nav to see if it is out.

mine is out by around 4 or 5 mph.

Also, VW won't calibrate your speedo.

Finally, not all speedos are out by 7 or 8 mph. The speedo on my MK2 16V is only out by 3 mph at 100 mph and it's on undersize tyres!

Find a tyre as near too the factory original wheel rolling radius size, and your speedo will be unaffected!

Clearly I gave the correct answer, if you got 15" solitudes as an optional extra on a 6n they come with 195/45/15s on them, if you look in your manual it quotes 195/45/15s as the correct tyre choice for 15" wheels, so with these tyres on your speedo will read as VW intended.

What exactly are you advising him to do? What tyre size does your strange logic suggest? 195/50? 205/50? both bloody daft sizes on a 6n...

Have a think about what you're saying before telling people who know what they're talking about that they're wrong, and maybe think about doing some evening classes in maths...

Not even considering the tyre, but for the moment, just the wheel: a 14" wheel will have a circumference of just under 44inches, whereas a 15" wheel's circumference will be just over 47inches. The circumference at the tyre tread will depend on the tyre's aspect ratio.

Speedometers have a factory tolerance of 10%, but this doesn't mean that you can drive at, say 33mph and claim to be doing just 30 unless you know how accurate your speedo is.

I don't know if the results from a sat nav are in fact accurate enough to check your motor against, but if you know where there is a 'measured mile' (or you are prepared to measure one out for yourself!) just drive through it using a stop watch and find out exactly how good your speedo is. Another alternative is to get a tachograph station to check it for you, but you would probably have to pay for that.
