Model: 6n

Engine: 1.6

After i passed my driving test, I had seen quite a few polos but the right 1 had not come my way yet. Initially I was after a 16v but that fell through. My brother's mechanic had a polo sitting in his drive way for over a year. The polo was a write off as well as being automatic transmission, so I went have a look at it anyway. Then a few days later, the mechanic was given a 1.0 manual 6n by another friend mechanic who no longer needed it! From there, he said he would convert the written off automatic 6n to a manual and get this car back to life and fix all other damage to the car.

The colour of the car is Blue Anthrazit Pearl, not sure if this is a rare standard colour that the 6n can come in, then again i myt be wrong

YES this meant I had to wait a quite a while, as he was quite heavily booked in by other cars

But as the car was a total wreck - this was an ideal project!!!

I visited my mechanic every week to see the progress...

When the car was dead!

During the conversion, i bought some clear side repeaters, german pressed plates and new windscreen :-)

I got the car on the Monday 6th october 2009.

Although as the car was a write off, it had to undergo a DVLA car test check. It took 2 weeks to book due to failure of their systems and 3 weeks

for the nearest date available. After it passed, i got the car on road on the 8th december 2009.

Very soon after, I got a Clifford Concept 650 alarm installed

Then it was time to install a whole new load of sound - as there wasn't a headunit or even any door speakers LOL, only the tweeters :disgust:

So I got the following;

Alpine 9812RB (headunit)

Hertz DSK 165 (speakers and tweeters)

Kicker L7 15" (sub)

JBL GTO 14001e (amp)

JBL GTO 752e (amp)

Optima Yellow Top (battery)

Momo 280mm & boss kit :-D

Got some L.E.D lights for the back bumper ^ ^ ^

Then I started to dynamat the boot & tailgate, to stop the rattling of the sub

190120101129.jpg

200120101130.jpg

With the new speakers, my doorcards would rattle abit. As I can't stand any rattle  , I then decided to dynamat around the speakers

270120101136-1.jpg

270120101134.jpg

The amount of dynamat actually did the job, although it was quite annoying put it on due to shape of the plastic speaker surround.

Then installed the momo after the sound was complete

Got hold of some 16v seats, doorcards, 6n2 gearknob and sprayed the centre console black

250520101430-2.jpg

When another payday came, so did the 6n2 rears 8-) as well as removing the side strips

300420101343.jpg

Soon after, I bought a set of BBS RZs 15inch, 40mm springs, a standard new exhaust and a nice clean to the car.

300620101521.jpg

Managed to get a slight poke on the car too

300620101523.jpg

I felt that the steering wheel had to be replaced as well as the centre console. Going for OEM look in the car is what I had in mind.

So i went to the scrappy and picked up a 6n2 steering wheel, handbrake and a Golf mk3 centre console.

The centre console was quite fiddly to get in, required quite a bit of trimming.

SOON FUTURE PLANS:

1) 16v back bumper on ASAP and resprayed

2) HIDs 6000k

3) remove back wiper

4) smooth front 16v bumper

and more to come....

let me know what you guys think... :-)

Initially I was supposed to get bodywork done but other things have had to come first, so its been put on hold.

I ordered some HIDs (6000K - flex kit) and some blue side lights from xenonsonline.com

140920101674.jpg

Not the greatest pic, but will upload more soon tomorrow hopefully!

160920101680.jpg

In addition, my Kicker L7 15" unfortunately died on me :-( the b*stard! This really did sidetrack my initial plans!

So I had had to find a better replacement.

Bought an Ascendant Audio 15" Havok

Currently waiting on a custom made ported box! :-D

Looking to SLAM the car on a new set of rims after the box is made, going slower than I expected but sometimes you just gotta wait lol

S'always worth the wait mate, looking good!

so last night i was driving back from heathrow T4 and all of a sudden there was a horrid noise from the engine!!!

called the AA and was told that:

the driveshaft had come off and smashed my gearbox casing in and potentially ruined my gearbox too!!!!

there was even fluid spills the on the road too and had to wait 1hr for the AA to arrive and an extra 1hr 30mins for a truck to retreive my polo :crybaby:

not a good friday night at all!

this happened at around 10:10pm

as of now, the car is parked outside a car garage repair shop until i get there early morning to talk the garage guys.

plans for the car that i had next week are now ruined and put further back!!!

and to top if all off i had spent a long time cleaning the car after work  !!!

will keep this posted and will get this polo back on road, or if not - perhaps a new polo!!!

last night's drama!!!

this is where my car broke down:

Thought you'd run over that guy in the middle picture - until I read the post. Unlucky man - hope you can get it sorted cheaply.
