BrettG40's mk1...

Featured Replies

Right,

I've been on here a while now and should have started a progress thread ages ago with my G, since i never got round to it i'll start one for this mk1 i just bought today!

Don't really know what the plans are at the moment but its definitely going to be a winter project. A friend i work with used to be a marine and his brother bought this polo years ago with a few problems, he then sorted the problems and kinda lost interest i believe, so decided to store it at an army barracks somewhere in a barn. When he told me that he was selling i was like yeh I'm having this, all the original documents the handbook, everything but I'm not getting those untill mid week, so for now its stored in my garage nice and sweet! Its by no means mint but definitely has potential lol i couldn't pass up the opportunity of buying a mk1 with low miles... :-D

All this black muck in the bay will wipe off, its fresh paint underneath :)

Were these speakers standard as it has one opposite in exactly the same place?

The inside just needs a good clean, and it'll be mint, it has the other door card too.

Very niceee 8-) I will pop up soon and have a gand ;)

Whereabouts in the country did you find this? Westcountry?

Good buy there, hope it holds no surprises when you start stripping it down - looks pretty damn good to me though. BTW, those rear speakers were not standard although you can probably find unbutchered rear door cards if you wanted originality.

lovely clean bay there, Whats your plans then brett?

sweet cant wait to see your plans for it

Rat look MK1 :ninja:

The geezer had it stored in a barracks in devon somewhere.......not too sure sure on exact location. When he bought it he never registered it in his own name as he never drove it, got it running and all. So i'll officially be the second owner lol 8-)

Me too mate, like i say I'm up for the challenge though if there is anything lol. You reckon i could find some rear door cards that colour, i was under the impression it might be pretty tough?

Mate, no idea. give it a clean good clean first and then start having a proper look about, get the wheels off see whats going down....

looking forward to cutting your charger belt in the night =D

i will be running the car on the strip, but it will probably break as i badly need to replace the rear gearbox mount, might get round to it this week, as its beginning to piss me orf now!

Haha u dick, didn't think you had the cojones?! Yeh get round to it, you need it in its best form for some strip rapeage. Bodywork will be staying exactly as it is, including the moss laying on the window rubbers :D. You do realise i'll be on your case hard while doing the conversion!?

ask dom how kindly i take to mithering haha. i stuck all the info in a guide so i wouldnt get bombarded with questions, but anything you ask that isnt covered in there, i will add. and as I've said to domula, ill stick up a guide to all the parts i used for my 1.6 conversion when I've ran the engine and knows it actually works. the actual info needed is in my blog on here anyway

need to unload those cajones before the run, lose some weight!

if i wasnt busy having my bathroom this weekend (and work) id be sticking the 1.6 into the peril to give you a proper run for your money, but next time gadget, next tiiiiiiime
