my mk2F or mk3 polo has got the abd golf engine in it. the engine is not running a well as it should (lost compression on pot 1) so i was thinking of replacing it. now I've spotted these for sale [ABD VW POLO MK4 HATCHBACK 1.3 MANUAL PETROL ENGINE] does anyone know if this would go straight into my car and run or would i need to change wires and ecu????

another ABD should swap straight in , i dont think they came in polos though so make sure it really is what they say it is

Should be a straight swap if you already have an ABD fitted. if you check the code on the engine (block just above the gearbox) or did you do the conversion?

Thing is loss of compression could be as simple as a HG or as diffucult as a full rebuild, all the compression test proves is in which cylinder the problem lies.
