thats pretty much a calling card of the rat I'm a rat owner and rats are awsome.

i go rat on the outside luxury on the inside,

and the concept is to create a car that really sits stiff and hard

and is pretty much a shell wraped around an engine of awsome power.

so if ny one does point and laugh you can strip them of their pride and maybe their

This argument is propper old, so old that I'm even bored of it, its behond the highly modded cars relating to 'chav' argument

If anyone thinks that a car wearing flat paint equals rat look then they're just stupid imo, to me thats like saying a car with lightweight motorsport alloys is a track car, when infact plenty of cars only used for shows wear those kind of wheels, and dont see a track, barley see a decent b road

I did see a Matt Black BMW X5, brand spanking new, and that didnt really look rat...

Depends on the other aspects I think...

Matt Paint. Mint Interior. No hanging number plates, no roof racks with cones and massive fog lights etc (which I do like). Then I dont think it should be classed as RAT.

Matt Paint, Rusty roof rack, wonky number plate...then yes RAT.

So to concude, the paint, in my opinion does not decipher purely if a car is Rat or not... :-D

Gotta agree, to me matte paint has more of a rat look than a high gloss finish.

Personally, I always thaught rat was knackered paint, not fresh matte paint, so in essence, by spraying a far with shit paint matte, you're making it less rat

This is rat.... RATROD. that rat "look" crap pisses me off. Just like cal "look" wtf stop pigeon holeing it and build something original... People that seem to do it think they are being different. Its feck all about being different if all you wanna do is say you fit in that scene.

tbh. None of the rat "look" cars I've seen are realy cool in any way... if i had to label em, I think SHAT look would be more appropriate...

I'm all for pulling a car out of a scrapyard, and just concentrating on the power and handling of a car, thats more in keeping with the original ratrod ethos... But going to buy a nissan sunny/vaux corsa/ mk2 bready and slamming a load of paint stripper on an otherwise presentable paintjob, and leaving it to rust while you strap on a roofrack and cover it with things like old wheels with the wrong pcd, and an old bmx... Thats not rat at all.. Its just fucking up a perfectly good car to fit into someone elses ideal.... I mean ffs i remember when all this started again back in the early 2000's and thinkin then i hope its just a fad...

thats what i think my mate dan is the undisputed master of rat in the nomads and nw dubs

but he drives a mk2 golf valver mat nymbus grey (rollerd on) bright yellow wheels and a custom

camo interior that he also did himself! he also done my checker interior (great when trippin!)

To be honest i think its all down to the car and personal preference. But i would have a shiny car over a matte car anyday. But thats just my preference.

Cant really do rat here,as our old cars rust. But in hot countries you can get an old shell that's naturally dented,blasted by years of sandy roads,and scorched by the intense sun. You dont need to restore/custom the shell,just the rest of the car (nice engine/wheels/suspension/restored chassis) and put the unrestored shell on it. That's rat.

What you almost always get here,and in the case of every UK car under thirty years old,is a car that is given the fancy dress treatment and called rat. Its not rat at all,its rat-look. And it never even looks it imo.

Anyone who thinks they have a rat MK2 Golf or newer is tragically deluded. And given that you dont even re-paint the outer panels of a proper rat,matt paint is no better than gloss.

All i think is if the person wants to think there car is Rat then just bloody let them, it's there car if they want to think that well just let em and leave it.
