expect a banger bora for that then or one which has done uber miles

£1500 will buy a decent enough 1.6/2.0 Bora. Any diesels or 1.8Ts in that price range will be bangers but it's about right for a base spec model.

Other half has one as a daily. Has all the factory extras like climate control, electric everything, 6 speed box, full cream leather, CD changer etc.

It's the TDI and slow it ain't...55mpg at 90mph is pretty nice. So standard handling is never going to blow anyone away but it's not too boat like.

The reason they are expensive is because they hold their value so well, like my Lupo, which Didn't depreciate at all in 2 years of ownership.

I don't think it's too boring, not as common as a mk4 golf anyway.

True, the 2.0 is pretty thirsty at 25mpg urban and only the same speeds as a average hatchback like a 1.4 8v polo, the 1.6 bora has almost the same 0-60 from what I've read less then 1sec difference and it will do 30mpg urban + lower insurance

iv recently picked up a 1.6 s bora, slow as shit on the mway, returns 35mpg around town and 40 on the motorway, went from a mx5 to it due to needing alot more space. cheaper and better then the mk4 imo
