hey lads, not done a update in a while!! well it wnt on the road for a few months but there was 1 problem, the way we had done the chain caused problems non stop grinding! we have stripped it back to just the frame and have been welding and cutting since we now have the chain perfect, just waiting to go for powdercoating again and it will be up and running very very soon!

also the quad lost quite abit of power due to the chain not rolling properly - but my god it was quick still

Man that things is guna be rapid i bet :)

sounds wicked :D

we tried it against my 400bhp gto and it smashed the car, even though the chain was not running right it still goes like the clappers!

haha man no time!! my gto is off the road it has a power steering leak(bad) and I'm sortin out my mr2, and the quad... what you mean its not running right?? looks clean though buddy!

edit: is it the twin turbo or n/a? pm me if you want bud

Edited by clarkson20

Its twin turbo mate

i took it out for a spin stopped at my mums for a coffee came out started car and there was a loud ticking like big end bearings and it wouldnt go over 2.5k rpm so i crept it home about 300m and I've never tried to start it since been just over a year now dont want to cause anymore damage

asked some advice on gto uk

told possibly big end bearings or timing has skipped so dropped sump but no debris from shells so removed cam covers and it all looks sweet

so people are saying now it could be 1 of a 1000 things had ECU checked so that is 1 thing thats of the list

just after someone to find out and tell me whats wrong with her then i can go from there

but your average joe mech dont have a clue and I've just lost job so cant afford to send it to a mitsy gto specialist :-(

anyway thats my little tale of woe

could be turbo ticking, tbh if the big end went you would still be able to go over 2.5k, what happens at 2.5k just pops and bangs?? the revving could be boost pipes loose, i rebuilt my top end , cam followers were bent, i had a loose boost pipe and wouldnt rev past 2k or drive past 2k , couldnt work out it just popped and banged and went no where , pipe had split worked fine replacing it, also check your turbo for shaft play, the shafts might be catching on the inside of the turbo, creating a 'ticking' sound, does the noise come from round the bottom end?? does it tick on idiling??

could be the tappets? what was your oil like , full? low?? might be worth cleaning all the breather pipes for clogged oil in them might be starving the top end? as you say could be a million things try get a video of it mate.

looks pretty sick man!

Was the donor bike a 02+ model? I cant remember the photos of the bike but i guess so. My old 99 had a huge jitter in 2nd, was told it was a manufacturing fault which was written out in the 02+ biies.

Phil looks like he is worth his weight in gold with his welding! That pipe welding is spot on!

Also, considering it has been made in a pretty ghetto shed you have turned out a proper monster which looks super tidy!

Keep it up mate!

  • Author

hey cheers bud it was and 04 r6 i think, phil is a ledgend, hahaha all sick things are built in british sheds!!

mate picked up the frame today from powdercoating, its all going back toghether on wednesday, when were both off work, its insured and taxed all ready to go straight on the road when the last bolt has been put in, there will be lots of rolling videos so keep a eye on this
