So... My breaks failed today and my car went shooting left.

I was not speeding , I jumped a kurb and slammed into a tree.

Now , Everyone came over. First thing i did was call the girlfriend , then mum but she was bussy.

I then called 101 who then took all my details.

I said.

I have had a car crash where I've locked up , hit a kurb and smashed into a tree.

I'm fine , Everyone else is ok and no one is injured. Was just me in the car and I'm not obstructing anything.

Now , Even so. The police never turned up or have made any contact.

I think this is a bit naughty as i thought they should breathalise me and take a statment even though the tree as a bit battered.

So , If you crash on your own should the police still not investigate it and come talk to you about anything?

For all they know i could have been high on drink and drugs (I dont touch drugs) I do drink however not when ik now I'm driving.

I mentioned to the hospital staff that the police have made no contact and they said thats strange..

Should the police be doing somthing about this?

The car is in my driveway now, They said i had 2-3 days to recover it or they will.

i would of just rang 999. all car crashs should be investigated by the police for as if you was on drink and drugs etc, they would prosecute you, even though there was no injury to anyone else. they would also be looking to see if it was careless or dangerous driving. when i crashed my car i had 2 of my friends. i wrote off my car going to fast round a corner. no one was seriously injured and it was my fault for going to fast but they didnt prosecute me :) i did cause substantial property damage. but they didnt even ask for my license, insurance, didnt breathilise me too. i didnt notice at the time as i was in shock.

i dont understand. your car is in the driveway and theyve told you you have 2 days to recover it. you mean someone esles driveway i dont understand?

just take whats happened on the chin,or claim on your insurance

The police aren't interested unless someone is injured. You need to give any third parties your details (e.g the owner of any car/property damaged, in your case its the owner of the tree but I think you will probably be OK there!). You should inform your insurance company you have had an accident even if you don't claim (but I wouldn't bother if no claim is made as they may still increase your premium regardless). Other than that nobody else cares.

When i crashed into a fence, (basically what you've done, the same kinda damage), i went down to the station and they told me to beat it!

They said that because i didn't injure anyone, or anyone's car then its fine and to just leave it.

However, we got a letter in the other day for the bill for the fence.

So make sure there is no witnesses!

Also 101 is only available in some area's. Sheffield and Cardiff being included, so most wouldnt have heard of it.
