6n2 cup holder help please

hi there i have a w reg 6n2 , previous owner by looks of it has spilt sticky drink cup holder was sticking, cleaned were i can and put little grease on wheels/cogs etc but now it worse than before god knows how , wont even spring out now, it did before ,thought after clean and grease up things would be better but its not, any advice?? if i take off whole thing is it just the two torx screws underneath towards front thanks

I had the same problem with mine. Took it off, there is two screws underneath (star drive i think) which releases the unit. I had a coin stuck behind the coin compartment (next to drinks holder). I then cleaned my cup holder out and it's been fine ever since! Failing that, you could take it off and replace with another one from a scrappy, or a passat maybe? Been told they fit too!
