Still on 1st car, not even near looking at another but just wondering if anyone knew anything about peugeot 307s. i know its a bit of a family car but they look sweet decked. can't believe i'm even contemplating french cars but its pretty much just the looks i like.

any comments?

They also have the worst driving position I have every know, it's like sitting in a arm chair with a gutless engine

Some models have the Brake Disc 'built into' the hub. You can't buy them seperately.

£200 a set for front discs? No thank you

Id say buy one, there probably the best car I've ever seen...

they look ok, but not something id buy. my mate has a c4, which is a 207. his c4 - slow, not very resonsive on the throttle, steerings reasonable, brakes are quite sharp tho. plus the 2drs do look funky

*gearbox is a bit clunky n feels flimsey, 1.4 16v engine has no guts either

i had a 207 for a week as a rental

seriously slow, gutless piece of crap. i think it was a 1.4 so it was kinda nippy off the line, but if you were already moving and wanted to change speed quickly you might aswell forget it. topped it out at like 114 down a massive hill also, wasnt feeling that seeing as i can cruise at that speed in my 318 all day long

had ipod aux in as standard which i didnt notice till the gf pointed it out and it handled quite well though. well it would of done but it had horribly light steering which weighted up round corners in strange ways i thought

I've had one experiance of a 307.

It was slow, horrid, did handle and gave no confidence.

So its just the same as every other small (if you can call them small) new car you see today.

If your not into driving though and just want to look good then why not go for it?

2.0 hdi for some dirt cheap insurance and get it mapped

lowering springs and shock and they dont handle tooo bad for a big car to be honest i could keep up with a 16v polo round the twisties anyway

I've owned a few 306's in the past and driven my relative's 307 a few times. Wouldn't usually reccomend the 307, as it gained a lot of weight, electrical problems and lost the fun chassis of the old car.

If you want it for just plodding around town and everday use it's ok, loads of room inside, higher driving position and (usually) lots of kit, but otherwise its not very exciting to drive and a bit slow.

As above the diesel engines are strong and respond well to remaps (extra 30bhp and 50Nm on the 90bhp HDI)

lol, a whole 100? i think stupid quick might be a bit of an exaggeration. they feel nippy up to a point.

pretty much the response i expected then! maybe i should just follow my instinct and go 6n2 GTI!

horrid car ,much prefer the older french cars ie 205 my favourate ecspecialy when they've been coverted to mi16's or gti6's mates doin a gti6 conversion now its guna be sweeet when its done

Bigger ones were good too - i had a 306 2.0i shortly after a 405 1.9i and both were good looking cars. But the 405 was more fun,ironically felt a touch smaller and lighter.

Other half has a 2009 207sw and we're getting rid of it - i really dont know what happened to Peugeot,lost the plot in a big way.

Suffer from wiring problems and the early HDI's have a habit of killing their fuel rail IIRC.

The 'boxs are horrible things, especially in the Petrol engine. It's like a stick in a bog. Also not to fond of the clutch, but for a comuter they don't seem to bad, good MPG amd plod on at sensible speeds. But for fun, they're clearly no good.
