peugeot 306 1.9 Dturbo 3dr (group 5 insurance!)

Featured Replies

Here i have for sale my much loved 306 1.9 intercooled turbo diesel. 1995 (phase 1)

taxed til December 31st, MOTd till january. 139k

this car has never let me down and has been a superb little hatchback.

the engine is the 1905cc turbocharged unit, with a tuned lucas pump and a kkk turbo.

being a young driver i started off with a 1-litre polo, but to be honest they are damn slow, so i wanted to move on to something with a bigger engine,

but i did not want to be paying over the odds on insurance... this car, despite having more than twice the power of a 1-litre polo, costs less on insurance.

the xud engine is fantastic for many reasons:

40+mpg is easy to acheive

it is very reliable, and has never once let me down.

i have tuned the lucas pump to deliver a lot of extra power

i have fitted a boost guage, max boost is currently 1.2 bar, which puts no strain on the turbo.

standard these motors kick out 90bhp, mine is probably over 100bhp (getting it to this stage has cost nothing)

a simple turn of the max fuel screw on these cars see's excellent power gains, and you certainly get a kick up the arse from the turbo on full throttle!

since having the car (bought in january) i have changed the oil twice, changed the oil filter twice, changed the fuel filter, and last week i changed the front discs and pads.

the car comes with a coded immobiliser, with which the car will not start without the code.

it also has electric windows and central locking.

the car is completely standard (minus the addition of a boost guage, and fine tuning the engine.. and a blue sunstrip)

bad points of the car:

central locking has a minor fault being that there is a snapped wire in the drivers door loom, meaning that it will open and lock from the passengers side, but will only lock from the drivers door. it has always been like this, i've jest never tried to fix it haha.

the passenger side electric window stopped working a couple of weeks ago, hopefully i have a new regulator on the way to fix this.

bonnet has been badly resprayed in one area (see pics) although to be honest you could just matt black it.

Great cars, free bump for local lad :-D

whats happened to the alloys that Dturbos have?

  • Author

bought it with these steels and trims on, and tbh I'm glad because my insurance was higher with alloys. was gonna get a set of 15" speedlines, but it's just money down the drain tbh.

It shouldn't have made a differece to your insurance, as Dturbo's have alloys as standard! GLWS, I've had a few of these, good motors

oh right lol... nevermind, never bought this car to look good, and i aint a fan of 'cyclones' or the other standard Dt alloys. cheers bud.

lol aye, surprised this hasn't sold yet to be honest. fast car performance with fiat seicento insurance haha.

i find myself interested for some reason (minus the locking problem and the mirror issue), and i have a mk2 coupe with a spare engine and a set of 5 bbs wheels haha, wonder what my insurance wood b haha

  • Author

get a quote my friend... i assure you it won't be much.

will b bowt 1800 i think haha what mileage has it got?

  • Author

it's on 139k but it is being used still so will be on 140k soon.

don't let that frighten you though, for a diesel that sort of mileage is fairly low, these have been known to easily exceed 200,000 with no faults, and as this engine has no faults i can easily see it being a workhorse for years yet.

hmm i will think about this,i do love my mk2 coupe but i cant afford to do what i want to it an i dont want to take on long journeys, dnt want to put to many miles on her
