Welis' '92 1litre Coupe

1992 Mk3 Coupe CL 1.0L

Bought it for £150 a week ago

Me-

I'm 16 and live in south somerset. I will be starting sixth form and turning 17 in september. Hoping to get on the road as soon as possible to drive to school. I love photography, all music, BMX and of course VWs.

The Car-

There's a bit of surface rust and a few minor dents but it's generally mechanically sound.

Everything is standard at the moment but i've got plans that are already under way.

The colour is a bit of a mystery to me, on the M.O.T it says "green" yet it looks more blue in real life and you'll see in the pictures. I'm thinking it's "carribean green" but i'll have to confirm that. (any help appreciated)

Plans -

Engine - Nothing major, In desperate need of a good clean but I might consider an induction kit. Purely cause they look sick 8-). A DTM back box (I suppose this should be under exterior styling )

Suspension - 60/40 kit.

Wheels and tyres - Sooo many options but I quite like the look of the steelies at the moment so I'm in no rush.

Exterior Styling - Clear indicators, bit of tint in the rear windows, Black roof cause its in a dire condition at the moment, debaged grille and boot, de bumper-stripped, smoothed rear plinth with relocated lock, rear wiper taken off and smoothed, pressed plates and skull dust caps.

okay maybe not the dust caps ;)

Interior Styling - Momo steering wheel, random crap which i find funny stuck in the dash, stickers on most likely everything, some sort of custom dock for my iphone maybe, needs new door lock pins and an all round scrub.

ICE - Alpine head unit, dash speakers, door speakers with custom made pods, rear speakers, sub in the boot with a clean box and no wires everywhere. Nothing much but I listen to a lot of music... A LOT and I know when I'm listening to good quality or bad quality stuff.

Lot's to do but I'm in no hurry. Besides, I can't even drive it yet.

Some more pictures -

needs a clean soon.

Absolute bargain :D

It's a bit faded in places, especially under the badges and bump strips which I removed yesterday. Pictures coming :)

Haha I wish I got EMA, I don't qualify for it :(

It's not like my parents are gonna give me £30 a week though

ah well... shall have to get myself a job again.

edit: might be able to sponge petrol money off the rents though ;)

haha, cool.

now a word of advice, check the fuel tank filler neck, when i first got my car i got it ready for my first drive. Only to find out that the first full tank of fuel i had put in it was melting the road.

Make sure thats solid and you might save yourself an embarassing situation when it's parked outside college. 8-)

Well nice colour, kinda like a non-faded version of calypso green lol!

Lack of updates aaaah.

Well... 5 months down the line this is how the car stands.

Badgeless grille and clear front indies on. Put a roof rack on the other day cause I ride bmx and it looks mint.

5467570619_490c9bd1ac_z.jpg

a bit of photoshop lowerage makes all the difference :D

I'm waiting on some E30 steels from a mate for free so that should be alright and then p-slots when i can afford them.

Things to come -

Induction kit, E30 steels, Longer pointy upwards exhaust, stripped out with a plywood bed in back which can easily be converted back to seats, some tunes, lowered 70/70 probably or whatever I can manage with the E30s, yellow lamin-xed head lights and indies.

I had to move some rubble in the car and it dropped the back 70mm (we measured)

5467570629_81564dcf88_z.jpg

It scrubbed like a bastid but that was probably because there was a shed load of rubble in there...

It looks like a good height to aim for (obviously on the front aswell)

L-plates are still on :(

I drive the thing every day with my parents to school and stuff and they make me drive them around. I passed my theory with no trouble but I lost my certificate so can't book my practical test yet :(. I'm a lazy bugger I know and it's my own fault, I could be rinsing my car on my own by now. I've had a few lessons but the guy was an utter c**t so I gave up on that and haven't looked for a better instructor yet either. Why can't instructors get cars similar to the ones 17 year old kids actually own. Why would I want to learn in a 2010 ford fiesta st or some shit when I have a 92' 1 litre polo :|.

Rant over.

thanks for looking.

edit (rant 2)

People at school keep saying why don't I get a corsa or a 106 like all my friends and when I say I prefer my car they just don't understand why. PEOPLE THESE DAYS

looks good buddy learning is a royal pain in the ass i hated it

  • 2 weeks later...

nice car man, is looking well sweet :) learnings not that bad if you have a decent instructor i learnt and passed in 4 days doing 9 hour days was so easy :)

looks good mate, nice to see it moving, however slowly ;)

tbh everyone tells stories of how they passed within days of becoming 17 but at the end of the day its a very small minority and these people are often the worse drivers (no offence intended to the guy above). Looking back on it now, I'm glad I failed my test once and took nearly 8 months to pass my test (5 months after passing my theory!).

look forward to seeing the car progress and good luck with your test when you get round to it!

I'M BAAAACK.

Passed my driving test yesterday after a year and a half of miserable money-less drought.

Got my beauty MOT'd today finally so I should be on the road by thursday. I'm 19 now and I got a quote on my insurance for £410 haha, how good is that.

Here she is, photoshop lowerage mind you...

How is your insurance so cheap! Who are you with?

trade, farm or named driver id place a guess at

hey man, did you ever find out the colour? If you didn't, I can tell you :D it's called mint green, same colour as mine, if you look in the boot there is a sticker on the suspension turret with the paint code on it, just get the code and check it against the list on here :) looks like a nice base car :)
