Right so I'm 17 dont live in a bad postcode and have a 1.0L 6n

which if I'm correct is group 3 which is about as low as you can get unless you buy a new car

Yet my insurance quotes are coming in in stupid amounts

So guys in a similar situation as me what are paying and who you with ?

try co-op mate, I'm not 17 yet but i put in details as am 17 and just passed and i got £700 fully comp named driver on dads policy :)

Although, i was 17, passed, and got quoted 640.

Now 18, it's down to 540!
