bday pressie, golf 3 tdi

Featured Replies

so my birthday yesterday, my brother bought me a red 5 door mk3 TDI. very greatful that hes bought me a car. but the goon bought me a TDI. i am struggling to get cheap insurance on my 1L polo. i have 3 points (speeding) and a crash agaisnt me. I'm paying 1600 on the lil fecker.

i have even put my mum as main driver and me as a named driver...cheapest quote was £2700 from co-op. was offered £1700 from coverbox..thats one where they tally up your milege with an installed blackbox under the hood. but i refuse to be limmited!

did have a look on chrisknott on here. but dont yet got a 1yr no claims bonus...get that in decembre...well hopefully.

I'm having to concider selling the car and look for a 1.4 or possibly a 1.6 if i can insure one tht is.

anyone got any ideas on what i should do?

and at the time i thought that was expensive !

Try phoning up companies, I am sure you'll get cheaper than what your getting quoted online.

Try aviva, their 2 months free thing works out really well on high quotes

You aren't trying to insure cheapy cars fully comp are you?

Just got a quote, they don't seem to have lowered suspension listed as a mod? Yet they have 'stripes'? Fantastic.

Basically just throwing money away.

TPFT is all you need on crappy cars

fully comp with insurers now was 2.3k tpff I'm on 1.8k I'm now with tesco which was the cheapest i could find. but all sorted now though, thanks guys!

must be said, I'm trying to drive the diesel like my petrol car...

NFU Mutual never used to be bad on young drivers and diesels.

they give quotes over 2k because they dont want to insure you, a good sign you should look for another car. I didnt realise people actually pay that  good job for getting it under 2k tho

true that, a fair few young people round my way get insured on diesels/vans on the NFU just cos its so much cheaper than insuring a petrol car with anyone else.

how cheap is it? cause I'm fiending for a van

i always seem to find that tpft works out more expensive for some reason now

also, insurance has gone up massively for young drivers in the past 2/3 years. when i was 18 with 1yr ncb i had a corsa sport 1.6 16v and paid £900 tpft which for my age was rapido
