Hi guys

I've just bought the RCD 310 radio on ebay to replace the standard 210 radio in my (10-plate) VW Polo.

But... I've got no idea how to get the RCD 210 out!

I found some screws under the climate control buttons, but these didn't help.

Now, after plenty of rangling, pulling and teasing, I'm stuck as to how to get the bugger out.

Has anyone ever successfully done this or have any ideas that might help?

No, unfortunately not!

If it did, I'd know how to take it out.

Any ideas how to get it out without the holes?!

Looking at pictures of the front it looks as if you will need some sort of removal tool which will probably fit in around some of the buttons or something. You would be best asking the vw dealer or an audio specialist as they would be able to get the removal keys to remove it properly. I would try to force it out in such a new car because you will most likely damage the dash or the fixings for the stereo which could be expensive to repair on such a new car.

to remove the stereo you have to remove the fascia around it, to do this iirc you must remove the climate control fascia (the 2 bolts you mentioned) and the pull it towards you.

then where the fascia was, there are another 2 bolts remove these and again gently pull the stereo surround towards you.

depending on your trim, the fascia could still be held on with the top part with the centre air vents. to remove this you must remove the vents them self. iircc you can use a knife, or something felt to slide down the side of the vents and persuade them out.

there should be 1 bolt behind each vent, then again gently pull towards you.

the fascia should now be off, there are another four bolts holding the stereo in.

i must note that i have not done this personally, but a freind had a bluetooth kit fitted to his 6r, and i watch the guy install it.

wish i paid more attntion though.
