afh in a mk2 golf

Featured Replies

hi people I've just done a afh engine conversion in to a mk2 golf and it turned out to be fairly sraight forward, except for making an engine mount and finding a 1.3 gearbox and linkage it went straight it!

I was just wondering if anyone has seen it done as i have searched and can't find anyone that has so was thinking i might ave been the first 2 do it!

It realy does go well to i didnt expect to much increase in performance from my 1.6 driver but it realy does make a large difrence!

any info on if this has been done before is much apreciated!

What kind of information you looking for mate? Seems youve done it all allready lol

Max

not a common one in a mk2 golf tbh, it's easier to do a 2.0 16v ABF

Alexxx on edition has done it, his is on bike carbs aswell.

he said it was pretty straight forward too

most people probably go for the golf gti engines as both have more power as standard, but fair play for doing some thing different.

You got and photo's of it?

Id like to see some too.

cheers erm ye do have some photos just gota figure out how to upload them and i will get them on so u can have a look! , I'm runing it on injection, thought would be intresting as haven't seen it done before lol and the engine was just sitting there lol

Not heard it done but it makes sense. Should be as quick as a stock 6n valver, more spacious and qualify for considerably lower tax over the original 1.6 8v. Some may find it better to drive.

Many Polo owners are happy to build a warm hatch,i dont see why the Golf isn't worth the same sensible treatment.

it realy does go well so much quicker than the old 1.6! i wouldnt b suprised if its quicker than a standard valver as the car is stripped out and realy doesnt way alot it also has a de cat

You worked out how to put pictures up yet?

If not, there is a help thread somewhere.

yeah been done and a few people are starting to follow over on edition.

not a chance in hell mate, i've got the same conversion in my mk3 polo, i've had a mk2 gti 16v before and it would of eaten my polo alive. it goes well but wouldn't stand a chance against a 16v gti, mine has a de-cat and freer flowing exhaust too.

the KR really is a great all round engine, lots of low end torque and pulls like a rabid shire horse all the way to the red line, the afh just can't compare to that tbh, and loosing a few door cards and a carpet ain't gonna change that

Doesn't he mean a polo valver?

for the same money/hassle, you could've done the good old KBF conversion.

Doesn't he mean a polo valver?

maybe? I just assumed he meant golf, mostly because being quicker than a standard polo vavler isn much of an achivement

Yeah he defo must meen a polo, I think he must know its not got KR power lol

Looks smart though in the mk2 bay.

Nice work, why you selling anyway?
