Thought it was about time I posted some pics of my build thread.......

When searching for a Polo as my Commute to work car (10mins max) I wanted something small and fairly economical, but would not deviate from a VAG so I decided on getting a Polo 1.4 16v

When I first bought it;

As i've been down the show'n'shine / concours route before, I wanted a car that I could "drive" and although I wanted something I could chuck about, I didn't want it to look like a shed.

I started off by experiencing that the brakes initally were crap, so not as soon as I bought it, the brakes for changed for a full G60 setup

Then the Coilovers got fitted.

Went for AP's, even though a budget coilover, they are made in the same factory as KW so I would put them on a par with KW Variant 1's (only height adjustable)

Then, as most Valvers experience at some point in their life approaching 70k, the gearbox went

Got the bearings and did it myself with the help of a mate.

Then somebody left a brick in the middle if the road, sump guard got ripped off;

Bought some 15" Polished RH Cups then decided against it. Decided on a different brand but will require some arch rolling / pulling so they're on hold for a bit.

Wasn't overly happy about the handling, the rear didn't feel sturdy enough, even though on coilovers so researched for about 6 months about rear arb's on 6n's only to find that they're like rocking horse doo doo and dont make them anymore apart from Whiteline from Balance Motorsport (imported from Aus)

Then found one on another car that fits ;) by pure chance on a random ebay search

Bonus............. handles like a treat now, might contemplate uprating the front but not by much and running a bit of front negative camber too.

And finally to bring us upto date,

Just swapped the seats;

mint car mate id love to do what youve done to mine, bet it handles amazingly

Excellent, I wish more people went down this route!

Have you considered a front lower brace? It's meant to make quite a big difference

I've got a rear polo gti disc conversion sat in the shed, seeing this again has made me want to get it fitted.

I think you need a Votex spoiler in your life :nod:

Oh yeah, forgot to mention, I have a "HELLA" Spoiler Painted up in the Garage thats been there for 6 months ready to fit but I just haven't got round to it yet

Oh yeah, forgot to say, I took out the sound deadening stuff from the underside of the bonnet (since the vids) to let the sound leak out a bit more ;)

I also have a custom stealth fit Powerflow exhaust with a shortened rear box and downswept rear tailpipe with a Supersprint 4-2-1 Manifold, which unfortunately has a CAT fitted (for the moment) ;)

Intent to bypass the CAT, remove the middle box cos its too big and giving me clearance issues when going over speed bumps.

Also contemplating changing the rear box for a Remus one (twin oval tailpipe) but can't decide whether to cur out a section of the rear bumper or to cut off the tailpipes and have some downswept tailpipes fitted to it ?

I never had any of that in the first place! Poverty spec ftw!

Awesome car :) AFH is a rare engine, I think even GTIs are more popular than this one. I have a question about the brake discs - are they standard G60 or some custom ones? I'm fitting ATE Power Discs for the front brakes tomorrow and I'm thinking about the rear brake discs conversion.

If it comes to the exhaust:

cut off the tailpipes and have some downswept tailpipes fitted to it

do that and add a polished TDI-like tailpipe :)

Gratz on the car and GL in further modding :D

My discs are from here;

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...:B:EOIBSA:UK:31

Properly made discs, chatted to the ebay seller and he makes brake discs for all branded car companies etc

Dont get the Red stuff though, I spoke with him and got Green Stuff, seem to be great for what I need, dont get alot of fade (and dont create alot of brake dust). Plus, he did the delivery for free at same cost rather then refunding me the difference

Recon I will do that with the exhaust ;)

i really like this it looks pretty much spot on maybe wider stance and something going on with the headlights but if your going performance not image leave it like it is solitudes and all, look forward to seeing more updates and less RHs (as nice as they are)! :thumbsup:

What do you mean something going on with the headlights ??

I am going for performance, but I have been contemplating some Borbet A's (7.5" up front and 9" at rear - although the latter will require some serious arch work)

I love the dished wheel effect with a wider rear wheel (the "down & out" look if you know what I mean), I'd love to put some BBS RS's on with a 7.5" at front and 8.5" at the rear, that way I dont need as much arch work, trouble is, RS's are more of a show wheel and I want something thats gonna give the BIG dished effect (maybe even polished) but I think with RS's i'd be too scared to "drive the car" properly if you know what I mean ??

I'm open to suggestions. Help me please !!!!!
