Updates:

After ordering all of that stuff iv put most of it to use , Just need a square tooth cam pulley so i can get the GT cam in

Otherwise i'm going to have to do a cam swap at work so i can lock the cam in our hydraulic vice so i can get the pulley off.

Anyway here's a pic from high peaks low dubs, I new she'd sneek in some where lol:

This is the reason why i bought a new bumper, Looks pretty crap and banged up:

How i was running it at first:

And now with a new bumper , Note the slightly tinted lights aswell:

Then went onto sorting out the horrible rear clusters, Didnt like the chequered reverse light so sanded that off:

Tinted them slightly, They look black in the pic's but there pretty much perfect:

Also got rid of the red stripe on the rear bumper, Doesn't look right, Looks much better in the pics showing the tinted rear lights fitted IMO:

Also gave the front grille a lick of paint , was looking very old:

Also fitted my spanker of a head unit , And 6x9's which I'm making a MDF board for the boot floor:

Also got my new webber and GT cam, Fitting a GT head + cam onto the 1.05 bottom end then using the 32 webber for fuelling, Also might be using a GT inlet manifold with an adapter block :-D

Going to be cleaning/polishing/painting it up , also polishing the inlet bores and knife-edging the butterfly.

Also de-hedge hogged the inlet manifold for now, Hopefully will be getting something much better soon though.

Having a full day on her on Thursday before VW action so should have some better updates including GT cam fitting (which ill be doing a guide for , seems to be alot of people wanting to do it lately) , Fitting the webber, Fitting the boot MDF board for the speakers, New wheels etc.

New Wheels:

Bought 4 wellers a few months back that were in a pretty bad state. Lips and backs of the faces being the worst, The lips were completely bent over in some places and there were alot of pitting/rust on the faces.

One of them was that bad i had to bin it and buy another one to being the total back up to 4 wheels.

Some pics of them before and after bend out the lips so they were more or less straight:

As you can see they were pretty horrible, At one point i gave up on them and looked for something different, But i new they had potential.

So after bending the lips back for about 2 days , a day worth of grinding and sanding i managed to get it to a decent enough stage so i could get a layer of etch primer (good stuff from halfords) ,

Looked like i was heading in the right direction :-)

After a few coats of that and a few of normal grey primer it was time for a first coat of gunmetal rover grey:

Looked pretty sick

The tyres are 165 65 13's , Gt spec goodyears!

went down to get them put on and i was litterally buzzing with the outcome!

Certainly does mate doesnt it, I didnt take the bumpers off for the sake lol, Its because it was fucked and was hanging off, And everyone mensions the colour, I personally love it , Its jade green i THINK.

Yer I love it. Going to take my bumpers off my loon soon an paint them up again make them look abit better. Just had a gt engine put in mine but never took any pictures. Its so much fun haha got any other plans for it?

In the long run its going to be a GT/ABD on carbs , But for now just sticking with a webber + GT head/cam on the HZ.

I know mate , I left them with them and came back 30 mins later and they had done them, The 3 guys who worked there were all as big as me so I wasn't really gonna kick off lol,

Also, I did ask them if they could have done it any other way but they were in that much of a bad state it was the only way they could get them road worthy lol

Still not bad for a £20 set of wheels.

Just noticed the "tinted" sticker on my windows, Does this mean there OEM tinted green? or did they do other colours?

They took some right work dude, there far from perfect but for £20 wheels, plus paint and tyres obviously, I'm over the moon with them.

One day ill take them off and get them properly straightened but for now there fine.

Ill allways have a soft spot for the bumper-less look, but i think i prefer it like this for now.

Turns out shes jade green, Got a few cans from "paints4u" which i couldnt rate more highly, Perfect match, Cheap great value and quality.

Also got some special edition royal blue for my mates golf that we couldnt find anywhere!

That was also a bang on match.

Love this car too much, was my fave car in our convoy :)

Just loving the car man, I'm a sucker for nice wheels and a nicer paint colour! I've got the 6n, but I can see myself financing a project for one of the older ones
