When I first looked at the pics, I thought you had the supply and return lines to the tank going to the t-piece, when only the return should connect to the T-piece. It's ok you've got it right. My bad.

Lol i know what you mean, Looks like iv got the two lines connected to the T and then both going to the pump.

Nah i posted what the set-up was somehwere up there /\

Any info on the manifolds mate?

Right , decided on whats happening with this slag.

Staying more or less OEM with this, Bought "goose's" old engine ,

So plans are;

1.3 bottom end from a MH

GT head and cam with custom headwork

28/32 DMTR or L

Custom Airbox mounted in firewall space.

watch this space for re-build!

Sounds gay!

Right , Dont know wether to run this on the 400cc ZXR carbs, or drop the 1272 with a weber DMTL , GT cam , box and exhaust and use the bike carbs on the mk3.

Dont know :-( , any suggestions?

A few pics of a bedroom DMTL rebuild :-D

Also got on with sorting out the monumental water leak from the drivers side.

Had a good look in the battery tray and found someone had drilled a few holes to pass some wires though , IN THE BATTERY TRAY!

Also found a little spot on rust behind the battery support at the back of the battery tray, Had a good look at that from the inside of the car and found this:

So welded up the drill holes:

Shit welds thanks to a gassless 110A mig welder from work.

Had to cut the rust hole out as it was beyond repair and very weak:

New plate:

Welded and abit of sealer:

Then gave the whole lot a thick layer of the stuff.

Gonna be doing the chamber in it soon.

Nice and dry :-D

Nice work, escpecially on the wheels 8-)

got a lot of time for this

got no time for this

Harsh...

Great work looks great,

Here's my DMTR rebuild and a helpful thread from Club GTI..

I still have issues with my standard MH and the DMTR: some sort of air leak giving a flat spot intermittently. The gasket on the plastic block on the adaptor plate is meant to be a dry fit to the carb which I might have to overide with some Hylomar or something similar.

I also find the carb runs rich. It probably needs different jets but I've so many other issues that I need to sort them before I can make it run more efficiently. I have the bigger GK inlet mind but still have the stupid standard 4-1 exhaust manifold into a straight through exhaust.

Interested to see how you go with this.

Nice one mate! , Cheers for the thread.

I don't know how the double choke carb's originally fit to the inlet manifold, so i cant help you in that respect. But an air leek would lead to running lean so it must be your jetting, Depending on what the DMTR was from in the first place , it will probably need a re-jet, Really easy to do by the way.

Ill be making my own adapter plate/block out of aluminium , then the termination plate to stop the heat getting to the carb from maybe PET or PPS.

Let me know if you want one, Because I have more than enough material to make another set,

Wheels are going though :doubt:

Aldon hopefully, as there only like 15-20 mins from me.

Can get the towrope out for that so i dont even need it running to get it there.

Oh right, Do aldon deal with bike carbs?

I'm planning on doing mine myself, when I decide what I'm putting them on!

I spoke to them ages ago about it.

They haven't done them before (or hadn't when i spoke to them) and where willing to do mine as a experiment sort of, to learn off. They would charge me the normal charge for a tunning session no matter how long it took them.

They might have done one by now though. Will speak to them about it at the RRday, possibly even get it booked in :D

There pretty damn good with carbs at aldon though tbf, highly recommended in the mini scene

Nice one.

Who knows what ill be taking down to aldon.

Definitely going though.

Obviously it will either be the mk2 or mk3 , but god knows what engine , and spec.

I'm keeping this one a 1.05

And the mk3's gonna become a 1.3

Oh dear a mk2 has come along..

You'll fall in love and a mk3 will never be as good again!

I love jade green! My loon was this colour and kind of spawned the orange powdercoating theme, which is now on a tornado red mk3..

But pure orange and Jade green.. so wish i'd kept it.

Mine was an '88 and imo was a completely different level of construction to my '87 mk2, just felt less protected, thinner paint.. like really thin and skimping in areas. Had less rot than my '87 though :lol:

Nice motor though, plenty to keep you on your toes now!
