Hello everyone! first post on here, and just looking for a bit of help!

I've got a 2000 (Y Reg) polo, and it has got 2 6x9 speakers (350w) in the parcel shelf,

thought they aren't wired, and have been put in really badly.

I want to get a new parcel shelf from a scrapyard, and put them in again,

but i have no idea what i'd need for wiring etc,

do i need an amp? or sub? or anything else?

any help would be appreciated!

you could just wire them into the front speakers , the head unit side or run them of an amp ,an amps gonna be better to be honest .

If you're considering an amp, you're going to want to buy decent speakers for up front, a good amp, and a sub.

If you like the boot space, like i did, you can get a boot build like the 6n somewhere (where the sub is tucked in the arch). It's the same as what i've got, only i have no pictures! :(

i"m new to the car game and wanted to make it nice,

so you saying i replace the two in the front doors? rather than sitting some in the parcel shelf?

sounds like it would look better, how much money do you think i'd need to spend to make it worth while?

personaly, i have a set of JVC 6x9's, 240w max 85w rms,

two 10cm 200w max 45w rms bloupunt's in the dash and nothing in the door cards.

a 10" kicker sub at bou 200w rms and a in phase 2000w max 600w rms amp running it.

with a pioneer HU

and it sounds the bollox, the bass will vibrate the mirrors on the car beside me and the vocals and trebles are perfect, clear and crisp.

i disagree to those who frown down on 6x9s, i can understand how most setups can sound like shite, but i was lucky, the 6x9s are the best I've ever had, and pioneer make quality HUs.

The downside of only having a set of speakers up front is you get complaints about the soundstage not being in the back (from back passengers). But not my car's on the ground, i can just take 3 people if I'm lucky!

I just thought 6x9's were a bit barry looking, and didn't like people seeing them poking outta the shelf.

It really depends what you like though, the 6x9's are good all rounders i thought, made a good amount of noise, just looked wrong.

they look fairly shit to be honest, and i was thinking about selling them to fund new ones,

i'm lookin about building a sub into my boot on the left hand side,

i'll take a picture today and upload it to this thread to see whether you think it's possible!

And i dont know actually, I'm sure its warm/hot water, and some cheesewire or something, and the badge just peels off. You'll need to get tar remover though, cause the glue leaves a mark!

urban sound, are not worth buying and amp for mate, better of binning 'em I'm afraid, I'm gonna cause an argument if i just tell you all 6x9s are shit (which I'm a big believer in) but if youre on a budget the money you spent on the 6x9s could be better spent elsewhere, better to have 2 good speakers and a good sub, than lots of shite speakers.

Your best of keeping it nice and simple if your not that knowledgeable, just get an active sub for the boot (built in amp) and some decent co-axial or components for the front, if you go with components you DEFINATELY want an amp to power them.

Cant beat vibe black air. as far as bang for your buck goes, nothing better on a budget in my opinion.

if you want to spend some more I'm a big fan of rockford fosgate.

and for even more Hertz and MB Quarts will rock you feckin socks off.

went into a car store near me today,

and think i'm gonna get a passive amp, seen a nice compact 8" one that the guy described as punchy.

ditching the 6x9's and gettin a new parcel shelf (as the previous owner ruined it badly!)

replacing the two door speakers, and two tweeters,

hoping this will give the sound i want, dubstep is my music!

not sure if 8'' will give enough though?

I find the 8" to be punchy enough, a good wobble to most dubstep. I think its pretty much perfect for the music i listen too. I hate the sound of overpowering bass and not a lot of treble/vocals?

That's all fine and dandy, but i want the original colour too. :( I dont want mis-matched colouredness.
