what?

So you were doing 50 in a 40 and got flashed? Yes you should be expecting a ticket! Unless the camera was outta film or something, but Id prepare for the worst.

Some cameras are set at speed limit +10% over + 1mph, and only then will they flash. This is for inaccuracies, but if you were nearer 50 then too bad.

Could always ask the person you bought it off to say someone test drove it before you! Didn't get there name etc! Must have been them???? Lol seen as you didn't actually harm anyone I'm all for stickin one to the man!

also all cameras flash but not all prosecute, or so i was told on my speeding awareness course!

Please can we have an english translation, from what I read it sounded like you were flashed crossing a green light (possibly a junction with a cam on it and you went across on red) Seriously I understand text talk and some people type is short hand but this is just WTF

Very true, not all gatso's actually have a camera in. Don't believe me, go check your nearest, look straight in and you'll clearly see a round lense of a camera if there is one.

So just bought a new car!

Went out for a test drive with my friend, the particualr route we chose has speed cameras positioned along it's length.

I was runing low on fuel, so I did a quick u-turn in back towards the nearest petrol station, when to my delight I spied that the traffic lights were on green!

With joyous haste I acclerated, however in doing so I drove over the calibration lines on the floor for the aforemetioned speed camera. I applied the brakes, but alas the damage was done, and the camera was triggered and it flashed.

I'm fairly sure I was within the margin for speedo inaccuracies, which I believe to be 46 mph.

Could you confirm perchance, whether or not the camera will be activated if I was within the acceptable limits?

If so, I'll take my punishment with good grace and drive with more care forthwith. However, I was just curious as to your opinions on the matter.

Just some background information: The incident occured in Slough on the A4 Bath road; from memory I believe it was between the Mercedes garage and the Esso Petrol station, heading for the M4 Junction to Reading.

Thanks!

I don't know what you guys are on about, I read that fine?

OP, I'd imagine if the camera flashed you, you were above the margin of error.. chin up!

haha! ^^ Brilliant! :) A*

Well it's been nearly three weeks now and the previous owner hasn't had a ticket as it would be i'n his name at the time , am I right to believe there's 14 days they have to prosecute you ?

And I'm sorry if you didn't understand my first post the re-write was excellent (Y)

speed cams go off every 30 mins if people are going past or not , duno y they do it bt i av sat on mi gfs balcony a few times and sin it flash and no 1 their :-)

haha i remember the sinking feeling whilst getting flashed driving my G40 that i'd just bought at the age of 19... (insurance cost me more than the car for 3rd party!) and thinking there goes my G40! but no ticket ever came through! you never know mate u may be in luck!

I'm pretty sure the 2 weeks rule was abolished IMO

I think they have abolished it, my brother got one about 3 weeks after getting flashed...

Oh, and no... speed cameras do not flash every 30 minutes.

if its flashing every now and then its a dud. fact!

I've been sat outside a pub in cirencester and been fasinated by a speed camera that must of been catching speeding wasps lol.

Along the A90 up here, the speed cameras are set to 82mph. Not that I ever risk going past them at that speed.

If I'm accidnetly speeding and cant stop in time for the camera, I figure I might as well try taking the camera out ;)

do they go off every now and again just to put the fear of plod into people i was going through one at just under thirty in a thirty zone and it flashed. scared the s**t outta me even though i knew i wasnt speeding. or was it just set up wrong.

I remember i was driving past a camera being fixed, the guy had it flashing rapid like every second...twas very distracting lol
