I've just gt myself my first car. its a 1L, 1998.

i got the car for £200 and it has had £600 work:

new paint job

wheels (got them free of a 2007 corsa) and tyres

mot and tax

clear lights and side repeaters

cd player and speakers.

i was thinking of lowering it and changing the wheels, what do u think?

would look good lowered definatly maybe with 16's

Not bad for that price dude! but yah lower it and change the wheels and leave it as it is, would look sweet depending on what wheels you choose and if you have a stretch to the tyres or not.
