Wheel clampers are to be banned from operating on private land in England and Wales, the government has said. The legislation, to be introduced in November, will introduce penalties for anyone clamping a vehicle or towing it away on private land.

Not been a victim myself, however there have been a few threads about clamping and what not, good news imo.

glad to hear it although I've heard it will be a tightening of restrictions

mate of mine got clamped while parked up at his mates uni halls car park, clamp guy turned up and caught us with the car jacked up trying to unravel the chains but blocked us in threatening to call a tow truck unless he paid £100 cash

exactly the sort of business that i suspect this aims at. when i was in halls i would see 2-3 people per week be clamped outside my old halls, on what looked like simple double yellows while just dropping shit off for their student kids etc. was outrageous i thought

I'd like to see them even try clamp some of the cars on this forum

well the reality is that theyd probably just damage your car trying to do it

when we told the clamp guy that he couldnt of clamped our old polos due to lows, he told us he'd have just had it towed away

so all in in all, a nice big F U to the clampers

I think it's a bit more of the ConDems not giving a shit about laws they are passing... couldn't be bothered to regulate so they just outright ban it! bit like scrapping the new school we should of had built without looking at it

no clamping on 'all private land' is a bit extreme? how would they feel if I parked on their driveways for a day?
