I'm trying to siphon out the petrol from my 98 Polo. I've tried the traditional siphoning method but that didn't work, I also bought a hand siphon pump but that also didnt work. I'm thinking there must be some sort of gauze to stop you from siphoning out the petrol?

I did a bit of research and found the panel underneath the rear seat and took off the lid but theres a few connections there which I assume goes direct to the fuel tank?

I'm a bit clueless to this, any help would be greatly appreciated!

if the polos dead mate why not just cut the pipes that lead to the tank from the filler past the bit thats stops u sucking petty out!!

My dad doesn't wanting me cutting things lol, just in case someone wants it for spares. It basically needs a new engine but apparently that will cost more than what the cars worth.

Stick a tube in and suck until the air is out of the tube. Dont drink it though, not as nice as it smells.

Or you could buy a tube with a pump but that would cancel out the cost of getting the petrol out. Some newer polos may have a silly neck filler to stop you doing this but I'm not sure. I did it on a mk3 easily enough.

also make sure you have something big enough to put it in, not like me trying to empty 20 litres into a 5 litre can

Would it be dangerous to somehow use the carse fuel pump to a supply and use that to pump out the petrol?

probably seing as it will be at high pressure. i wouldnt want to try it. personally i'd do as others have said and chop the fuel line near the tank. no-one will want a second hand fuel line anyway

stab the fuck out of the tank.

might be a stupid idea but couldnt u just remove the hose from the fuel filter and let it all run out..

Sorry mate, not sure on the specifics as I'm not familiar with the car. Best disconnect the battery though..!

Theres a couple of ways of doing it without cutting pipes.You could take the return off the injector rail and pipe it into the petrol can and leave the car running or power the lift pump up and have the flow piped into the petrol can

Why not just undo the jubilee clip and take a pipe off?

take the fuel intake pipe off the fuel rail, and turn the ignition switch on and the fuel pump will run for about 10 seconds, keep switching it off then on till the tank is empty

wehay, we have one good answer. this lad gets a gold star

if you can also find the fuel pump relay just take it out and bridge terminal 30 and 87.

take out the back seat, take off the cover, take off the pipes on the top of the fuel pump, open the twisty ring, lift out your pump and take it from there

whys it a fail, chopping pipes is quicker than uncliping fuel hoses and turnin a key every ten seconds. espicially if the car is never to be used again, simple thinking really imho

you but his dad wants to keep it for spairs, posibly drop another engine in it later.

although to be fair, takeing the feed pipe to the fuel rain and turning on and off the ignition would still be quicker than cutin a pipe and waiting for it to
