1.3 gt cam in 1.0

Featured Replies

so oncea gt head has been put on ,what other modifactions can you do to a 1 l

hmmm anyone

Theres plenty you can do, After fitting the GT head and cam you could then go onto fitting GT fueling, Bike cars, a DMTR , All sorts.

You should bias to Mid-range , High end power though because of your small stroke.

Max

Curious about the gt fueling, i looked in to this a while back (not very deep tho) by this i take it you mean the the whole injection set up, i was under the impression that this would work but overfuel like a bitch at full chant, and the only way round it was to get a custom map to suit.

Is this correct or just me being paronoid about the shorter stroke/less CC`s.

Standard GT exhaust made quite a difference to my 1.0! I had the GT system from the manifold back with a decat, a GT head and cam, 1.3 ECU with poloace chip, 1.4 throttle body and 1.4 injector, must have been close to 70 bhp if not more, as it made 62 with the stock head and cam. Made a nippy wee car really, comfortably quicker than a 1.2 16v Corsa C to 80 which was my main rival at the time lol.

That sounds like a wicked bit of fun toby.

I'm going for the same kinda thing but using a carb.

and lupoluke , Yeah the standard GT fueling would probably over fuel on a 1.05/GT , So you would probably start having to mess about with injector size. If i was you you id change over to carbs, maybe a webber? Or better still bike carbs.

I've seen a 32 something webber carb but says its for a mk2 ,can you get these for mk3s?

or and do they just go straight on or do youi need to fiddle around with it?

Yea i was thinking of bike carbs (i have a past with dodgy ecu`s so not having one sounds appealing), but wanted to look at the gt side of things first. I did and came to that conclusion, although it could work really well, for what it would cost to get it mapped ect i may aswell drop a gt in, which is not really an option tbh (insurance).

Yeah the best thing your ever gonna be able to do is drop a gt in (not thinking about AFH, G40) , But if insurance and equipment to actually do it is holding you back , the best thing to do in my opinion is do what we've already been talking about (1.3 head + GT cam) and then use a carburettor instead of the restrictive throttle bodies,

Best thing you can use is bike carbs , CBF 400's or CBR 600's but if insurance is stopping you again then get a webber 32mm TLA or TL, This is the webber replacement for the 1.05 and has always been liked. You might have to buy the mk2 ignition system though, But people have stuck with mk3 ignition , you have to keep the ECU then however.

Theres loads of threads in the technical section and FAQ section that you could have a look at.

Theres so many options when it comes to engine conversions but I'm 20 and live in one of the worst places in the country for car insurance.

Equipment isn`t to much of a problem as I'm at a VW dealership (apprentice) :).

And yes if i really like the sound of the bike carb route never really looked in to the webber (mainly because webbers are expensive and i cant justify spendiing much on a 1.0L)

I have alreay got the gt cam, a mates got a head i could rob from him, and ill see another mate about the carbs so it could be quite cheap for me :).

And i have spent hours on end reading the bike carb threads, theres so many different set ups and different opinions, think its just a case of have a go an see what happens / what i prefer.

Also thanks for the input budddy.

Bike carbs are going to cost you a lot more that a webber, Its a direct replacement so doesn't need to be set up by a specialist.

ok so I've just dropped on a 57k bready AAU 1.05.

been reading what's on here and have got hold of a 1.3gt head and cam, am also intrigued about the possible bhp from this conversion?

whats the best route, carbs or chipped ecu?

Omg so glad i just stumbled across this thread, been wanting to put a GT cam in my depressingly slow 1.0 6n for a while! Is this also possible ??

also what else would need uprating (if anything) after fitting the cam ??

Has anyone done this on a 6n - fancy giving me some advice please :D
