thought id put some jobs on here that iv been doing this month.

finaly got a spring and shock kit at the start of the month been thinking about it for some time now as me front shocks was totaly shot,so a quick look through the classified adds and hay presto i found a set of 60/40 springs with gas shocks still in the box for very good money.

The time came too put them on and boy did i need them,i think there was more oil in the legs then what was in the shocks lol.results are iv notice a vast difference with the handling so all in all very pleased.

iv also bought a home made single wiper kit off leeboi that i put on the other night.i know its not to everyones taste and i was in two minds myself but i think it works well.

feel free to give any feed back.be gentle though lol

he also had a set of gt clocks and a debadge grill for sale and never one for passing up a deal had them aswell.i was suprised how easy they were to put in the only hard bit was getting the sodding plug out of the back of the original clocks but a few choice words later and out they came

nexts jobs on the too do list are to poly bushes front arms

get some lower profile tyres instad of the off road tyres thats on it now

and better brakes ready for the engine transplant,though at the moment not too shure whats going in.

hi all thought id put acouple more pics on here to show whats the latest with the van.over the last few days iv got tired of the alloys that was on so i thought it was about time i got the steelies sorted and put back on.

a trip to b&q i wasnt realy sure what colour to do them but after looking through the spray cans found a perfect shade of cream,you never know exactly what the colours going to turn out like but i must say its I'm over the moon with the result.

i also sprayed the fuel cap so instead of red and black its now red and cream

my new gear knob came i found it on good old ebay

the next job is to get some more tyres for the steelies I'm thinking 165 60 14

ill get some better picks up of the van soon

i've only just refound this old thread of mine and can't beleive how much as happened since my last post!!!!!so here's a short version...

not alots been change ont the outside or realy the inside of the van,the main difference was under the bonnet.

i got bored with the 1ltr lump and found a 1.4 abd gt engine and gt box for sale,so one sunday me and me brother had a 2 hour drive to go and pick it up,

it made the van alot better to drive made me smile everytime i drove it,very quick for what it was and i thought GREAT JOB DONE mmmmmmm if only lol

it was like that for about a year,then i became mates with a guy that had a g40 and i was hucked on the gee idea and started the searching ,i know i wanted it in the van so i was only looking for an engine (and found how expensive they can be) and went pritty fast after being put up for sale so to free up some cash i sold my bmw m3 evo on ebay to a nice bloke that had come all the way from german to pick it up lol.

so with the cash from it burning a hole in my pocket the search continued,i inquired about acouple of engines then a full scrap gee came up for nearly the same money as just an engine,mmmm i thought sell some bits of the car and get some money back bonus so the deal was done,he even dropped the car off for me on his flatbed

then it was time to get the gt lump out of the van and get the g40 in

and the gee getting put in

i had a larger intercooler sat in the back of my garage,i haven't got a clue where i got it from to this day lol.it happens to me more times then i like old age creeping in maybe.

and due to the difference placing had to reroute the intercooler pipes

the gee i bought had a stage 4 charger on and i was just going to fit the hole lump then i heard that a peteg40 had a r1 rebuilt charger for sale so a dip in the pot and hay presto i was the owner of a r1 charger lol

it came time to run the r1 in and i wasn't looking forward to 300 miles off boost,how boring lol anyway i organized a trip to and raf museum done near london,atleast id be doing 300 for a reason

i also fitted 2 important gauges(boost and oil pressure)

after acouple of years very happy motoring it's now time to treat it to a fresh paint job and some tasty engine mods

firstly though it's time to strip it

alittle more got done yesterday,though not without a price ,i started taking the side window out and quarter window the drivers door and ended up smashing the window as it was comin out.guttered isn't the word.

but thankfully the other side came out without any problems so at least there's only one to buy..

always look on the bright side ey :huh:

also took the wings off to have a look how the inner arches are doing,to be fair like most of the underneith,there in pritty good nick..but enuph of me rabbiting on here's some pics

took the lights bumper and all the little bits and pieces off thee rear

once i started didn't take so long,even after i spat the dummy out when the window smashed and went back inside

windscreens,door glass is out,engines out along with petrol pipes,brake pipes and carpets

found a hole in the floor,luckly the only one

I'm also going to change the colour to this

Love the idea of a g40 van. I'm always on the lookout for a mk2. I have a little derv engine I'd like to put in, make it a proper beater!

How did you get the windscreen out? I want to remove mine but I'm fearful of shattering it

thanks for the offer,i've managed to buy 2 doors with windows..bonus lol.......i've always liked rare affordable cars and propper vans are very rare,i ended up cutting the windscreen rubber to get it out for the same reason you've said and bought a new one of peteg40,ihave a chat with him see if he can get you one,I'm shure he said he could get a few and i think it was something like 12/15 quid

alittle more done today it's still going slower then i would like because of my new shift pattern at work but onward and upward.

saturday morning i went to derby to pick up a half cage from a nice bloke with a mk2 bready,got back and and spent most of the afternoon test fitting it.there's still alittle fettling to do but it's getting there i also need to put the cross bar in

then today started with the paint stipping and cutting for the stitch welding and the strengthening bars tacked in place.

i could only tack them because i sodding forgot to pick my welding mask up from me brothers :rolleyes:

i'll be welding it all up this week so i'll get somemore pics up.i'm up against it at min to get the jobs done because it's booked in for the spray job next month

Such a good thread, Glad someone is looking after one of the few that are left,Gonna look even more siick after re-spray,I'm gonna go bang my head against a wall now,biggest mistake i made was selling my polo fox van for 450,idiot!!!! Anyway Sweet van and look forward to pics
