Basically my gearbox 'tis screwed and i want to gets a recon one fitted to my polo.

Tis only a 1.4 8v and spent a fair bit on it, exhaust n springs/shocks from philj, etc.

Would it be stupid puting a new gbox on it wen its just hit 100k

It's always going to be hit and miss getting stuff from a scrappy.

But in my opinion, paying near enough the value of your car (I'm guessing) just for a new box isn't really worth it..

you can get a low milage 16v engine for half that.

dont pay 700 for a box, if youre going to do that you should put that towards a gti lump and do the conversion.

Only ting is that I'm gna be getting some money soon, and enough to gets a new car....so might end up getting rid of polo =/

Just find a local gearbox specialist (Yellow pages) and take your original box to be re-built. Had mine done for £150 which included all new bearings and seals, and I live in remotest Aberdeenshire.

fuck that, i'd rather spend 50 quid for times on second hand gearboxes throughout my ownership of a car than 700 quid once
