Featured Replies

basicly went to call my insurance company as i lowered my car 80mm over the last couple of days and they said they wouldnt insure me until I'm 25! I'm currently 18 been driving for about a year and 8 months got 1 years named driver no claim with direct line and like 2 months on my own policy, the car is a 1994 polo fox breadvan 1L, on my own policy I'm paying about 650 at the moment with direct line, anybody know any way around them no insuring me or any good companies that will insure me with the suspension dropped 80mm with a strut and spring kit?

thanks sam

there was something on here a few days ago about this they dont allow any mods untill 25. Your best bet is to just shop around and read all the small print next time. At least you did the right thing in telling them. This way you wont get a huge shock if anything was to happen!

can often depend on how low your going... i'veheard people measure the drop from wheel arch to ground etc because an 80mm lowering doesnt alws make it 80mm lower than standard

I dropped my old MK3 Golf when I was 18 and I think my insurance company charged me about £50. NFU Mutual http://www.nfumutual.co.uk/you/motor-insur...r-insurance.htm you need to call them as they don't do quotes over the phone. They may seem a little expensive when you look at quote to quote but thats because they include everything as standard unlike direct line who charge extra for legal cover, courtesy car etc...

get onto brentacre, i gave them a ring said that I've dropped my car. they said back we dont charge more on look wise mods, we only charge on performance mods.

You have to be 19 to be with brentacre :(

Most mainstream companies won't insure a modified car until your 25. You'll have to go specialist unfortunately.

Adrimal insure me with a lowered car, just tell them its 50mm lowered other wise they wont insure you :)
