1.6 16v conversion in 6n

Featured Replies

is it possible to put a 16v head onto the 1.6 6n? i love the way my car pulls but for future tuning id like to put the 16v block on.

never been into vw's apart from a few old breadvan mk2's so this is all new to me. is there a golf 1.6 engine in 16v i could use as a donor. i know the ecu will have to go or have some major fettling done but i dont mind the grief providing the gains are worth it.

the 16v head will fit on the block, but there are a few differences internally and a few timing belt issues which prevent it from working... otherwise eveybody would be doing it!!

there is a 1.6 16v golf engine you could possibly use from a mk4 golf/bora but it will be major balls-ache getting the fuel injection gear working

why not fit a 6n2 1.6 16v gti engine in it?

didnt know they done one. anyone know of a build thread that someone has already completed the conversion so i can see?

why, is the search button broken?

why, is the search button broken?

probably not but it is shit.

usual conversion mate is the 1.6 16v block and the gearbox off the polo gti and 1.4 16v valve head......

yeah that's what i've done with mine, but it's not all plain sailing i'm afriad, you need to make a couple of custom parts and use a mixture of different parts from different engine codes
