Mk5 Polo GTi

Featured Replies

After upgrading to a new car, i have no room for the GTi to keep it. Its been a great car for the 27k I've put on it theres been no issues at all!

I've had it serviced at VW twice since owning it, along with replacing the cambelt the other week at 87200 and i think the current mileage is 87500!

MOT till december

Tax till next year

Full VW history

I've had replaced recently -

Front disks and pads for slotted disks and EBC green stuff pads - plenty of life left

Rear disks and pads for solid zimmerman disks and EBC green stuff pads - again plenty of life left!

Cambelt kit with all tensioners and water pump with fresh VW coolant

Brake fluid changed at its 2 year interval carried out by VW

Gearbox oil changed at last service 80k by VW

Full VW inspection service at 80k

Pretty much brand new FK coilovers with adjustable damping, Greased when fitted, high quality kit offering 6 different damper settings!

Wheels and Tyres

Will come on the standard BBS splits. All the tyres are in good nick but the wheels have the laquer peel that all GTi's suffer from. It was next on my list to get these sorted but as i used them as winter wheels its never bothered me!

Interior

I changed the seats for the leather trim option, they are heated just not wired up. I've got 3 switches that I've bought off ebay over the time just never got around to purchasing a wiring loom to finish the job. Theres some bolster wear on the drivers seat but some shoe polish pretty much hides it. Its never bothered me, you dont notice it when your in the car and cant see it from the outside! All the electronics work as they should, the window switches with the "one touch" feature works as it should. Climate control is fully functional and aircon gets ice cold!.

Standard VW headunit and 6 disk changer in the boot

TT pedals

VW mats

Exteror

I've had the rear arches rolled to accommodate the schmidts. I was a complete fanny when getting this done and i'm happy at the fact the paint didnt crack and the shape of the arch stayed factory. The lips are double skin at the back so haven't rolled flat flat, but theres a good half inch more room under there.

Fitted a new GTi splitter at a cost of 50 quid from VW as the previous one was looking pretty tierd!

I had the car fully machine polished to remove all the swirls when i bought it. The paint is great on this car I've looked after it but some swirls are there if you look closeley enough! Theres a few stone chips on the bonnet but not many as i had it proffesionaly sprayed!

All the bumpers are scuff free, theres the slightest of dents in the passenger rear 1/4 that was there when i bought it. If i didnt mention it you probably wouldnt have noticed!

Also the passenger stubby mirror casing has a little crack on it, can be seen from the inside if you sit there and study it otherwise its never bothered me.

If i notice anything else i'll write it in!

Engine and Gearbox

The engine is pretty solid on this car, its been well looked after and doesnt use any oil or water. Serviced every 10k at VW including two cambelt changes done every 4 years. Gearbox has had the selector shaft seal changed (common problem). I noticed it pretty much straight away so no damage was caused by oil starvation. Its been well looked after, warm up before any high RPM. I've been a fanny about it but its been faultless. No whines knocks or suspicious bangs!

The only engine mod is the BMC filter which really opens the engine up and sounds great through the revs!

Lastly theres a upper front OMP strut brace

The bad bits

Being honest the cars getting on for 9 years old now. The exhaust could do with changing soon as its starting to blow.

I've not had the tracking done on the car yet since changing the coilovers. Its not out by a massive amount but could do with a tweak.

Theres two chips in the windscreen that i can remember. Not got any bigger since i bought it and could be sorted by the resin injection that autoglass use for free on your insurance.

If i see anything else i'll edit it in, i'm just being honest as i was picky when it came to buying a GTi!

I'll be sad to see this car go, i wish i could keep it. Its pretty fast, handles great and returns 400 miles to a tank of fuel if driven sensibly.

I've got a shed full of spares, old suspension bits and bobs to return the car to standard if wanted and a set of rubber car mats to use in winter! (yes i have winter mats) lol

I'm not despirate to sell so no silly offers or PX as I've got a new car already - I'd like to see it go to a good home and used as it should be not sat in my garage!

Viewing is welcome but no test pilots without insurance! - I'm currently not insured on the car anymore so test driving is limited.

Price is £3500

Pics.

Some pics have the old spitter on, the new one is black.
