Is it possible to buy the clips that hold the window in separate from the regulator or am I looking at another reg?

You're looking at another reg when you go to VW.

Alternatively, don't be heavy handed and get some from some manual ones in a scrappy, they're the same as the electric ones and it is very possibly to transplant them over.

Right thanks a lot mate, I didn't actually fit the reg, just shut the door today and the glass flew down so went to VW who told me I'd need a new reg so along as I can fit new clips alls well just don't want the price of another reg.
