it's a cabby not a rag top. :) A rag top is a full length sun roof on a tin top car.

I have one of these too, i love it, is yours a GTI?

My advice is get rid of all the rust and keep it as original as poss, just a slight drop and some nice wheels. And be prepared to pay out a lot for a rood and any bits of trim you might need, they are pretty rare. Keep us updated even though it's not a polo I feel the love. :)

break it with the money you get buy another one in better condtion,i have got a sportline and spent about 4000 on it so far!!and broke about 10 like yours just not worth it will end up half done for years like a new roof is 400 just for the outside skin,but if you do restore it and you need any bits let me know got loads!!

icant break it it may look ruff but its not its rot box needs 4 bits welding

the number plate is worth about £400/700

i the gave number plate to a mate fo keeping the car for me when i had no room

and he had it valued .
