Cheese eating surrender clio

Featured Replies

Well having owned my diesel focus for a year I decided a smaller petrol car would be more in order for me and cheaper to insure.

Current insurance arrangments mean I'm on a 18month policy which will == 2years NCB upon completion, the end of this policy is May 2011. So I began looking at polos, mk3s, 6ns and 6n2s.

The main issue was insurance, due to the policy I cant really go changing company now or ill still have 0 NCB and its going to be pricey! But my insurance company are right arse holes when it comes to which cars they like/dislike.

So for this last 12months my premium is £1100, upon requesting a change to a 6n valver they informed me their would be an additional premium increase in £660, just for the next 8months. So that was out of the question I'm not paying that much extra on a lower powered car valued at 1k less!

Then I looked at 1.4 8vs and 1.6 6ns and tryed a quote on a 6n2 16v (which came back at over £800) but the slowness of a 1.4 8v wasnt an option especially seeing as my policy wont allow me to perform any major mods e.g. lowering or bodywork changes!

So I decided on a cheap run about till May with a decent purchase price, decent power and fun enough to stop me getting bored by May.

Having viewed a few vehicles I ended up with a 1.4 16v Clio Dynamique, and to be fair I'm pretty pleased with it, its so easy to drive you could be asleep behind the wheel and its pretty fun

Not too slow either with a lil 100bhp engine it feels nippy enough, but best of all its equiptment is pretty decent with sunroof (something i'd missed since my old mini) and trip computer.

Not only that but I tryed to keep my budget below 2k and managed to pick up an 05 plate

First thing first soon as it was back to my house, service time

Thats not been change in a while! The oil filter was also rusty on the outside, mmm!

Next was removing the stupid tow bar

Seriously, why would you put a tow bar on a clio? He was using it for a trailer that his motorcross bike went on,have receipt for it and its only been on about 8months, but 8 large nuts&bolts held it on along with a large metal plate! Seriously OTT.

Gutted! What sort of car you looking for now then mate? Going from a Focus to a slower Clio was always going to be fatal in my eyes, 172/182 would of been a whole different ball game ;)
