either the relay or the stalk i say, check the connectors are secure on the steering column to start

the relays are cheap,or free at the scrapyards ( :-) ) so try that first and see where your at..

from what i've seen searching around the internet the relays fine

how do i check?

if the hazard lights work i would also agree on the realt being fine, it may be worth trying another switch as it may be that which has broken. the only thing i can think of which may cause your current fault is that when working on the car you may have accidently damaged the wiring and what has happened is the two circuits have now become one. have a look at the wiring and double check nothing has been damaged and try another switch.

one thing you could try is to put a live feed to one of the indicator bulbs, if one side lights up then it may just the switch but if both sides light up it is more than likely to be wiring damaged somewhere.
