I'm 18, passed my test 2 weeks ago, settled on the fact I'll build up my no claims so I can get a polo in like a year.

Found a 1999 1.0L corsa and started ringing up companies, for Third party fire and theft

Adrian flux: £3200

Co-op: £2900

Admiral: £3260

Direct Line: couldn't provide a quote

Tiger: £2900

Endsleigh: (which claims to specialise in young drivers insurance) £5900

These are companies which have been recommended to be good? for an £800 car?

lol i am. i badly want a polo but if it means sacrificing this first year to build my no claims. i just want any car that drives atm, if i cant insure a 1 litre polo, theres bob hope and no hope!

buy a high powered estate car and your quotes will be cheaper because they wont expect you to rag that around the local maccy ds!

yes corsas have a massive reputation to bad boy racers, with stupid alloys, and shit headlights with blacked out windows and driving stupidly fast

Not neccessary to be a 'high powered' estate, any estate will do, normally seen as 'family' cars that are driven by sensible adults with kids, get an old passat estate preferably a deasesal engine and you will find your quotes are much much lower, plus it will be more believable to then have one of your parents as a named driver. Another plus is that if you give it a quick polish a year later you could probably sell it for as much as you paid for it. Bonus!

have you got them quotes online? try ringing round its often a bit cheaper and also try putting anual milage low and your excess up!

i can vouch for the whole diesel thing. my 1.9 d clio was about 3-400 pounds cheaper to insure than a standard mk2 polo.
