I am asking for abit of help, i am looking to join the VW club

Asking for the general oppinion on getting a Polo that was wrote off as a Cat C. It has been VIC checked and has MOT and Tax. The price is £895, its done 23,000 miles

it was hit on the valance below the bumper. bumper and bootlid undamaged, slight kink on boot floor but minimal.

The car to view is about 3 hours from my home address.

All oppinions would be grateful.

So yeah, would you buy it? Or wouldn't you.

Help would be much apprieciated.

id be very dubious about the mileage so check that out as thorough as you can, i would also want to see a hpi report on it and receipts of the work that was carried out and want to know the garage that fixed it.

what year is it? if its a 6n surely you could buy one that isnt a cat c for similar money? the mileage would be higher but that dosnt matter aslong as its been looked after.

also just noticed the kink in boot floor bit...i wouldnt even entertain the thought of buying it.

I wouldn't bother personally, doesn't sound like a car worth travelling three hours for. As said, If it's a 6N you can easily get a fairly decent one for that money these days. With a more healthy mileage too, 23k sounds a bit too low if that makes sense

think about when you want to sell it on?

Anything you do to it mods wise etc will be dead money. Cat C is always going to put people off.

I wouldnt have even given it a thought with it being 3 hours from where you live!

So its a 1.4 6n, 3 hours away, A cat C and £895. Keep looking for something half decent closer to home.

Who said it was a 6n?

If it is then don't even think about it, I bought my valver for less.

If its something slightly newer like a 9n3 then think about it but do your homework first, cost of repairs etc.

The 1.4 8v only went on as far as the 6N2 so it will be no newer than that. I would want to find out about the kink in the boot floor before buying because the car could be hiding further more expensive damage. If its a 6n (pre 2000) then its not worth it at all.
