Breaking 1991 Silver CL Coupe 1.3 SPI SHELL

Featured Replies

Hi

I don't know if anyone is interested but I have a rolling shell (no fuel tank) which used to be my beloved Polo. Sadly, some idiot kids smashed the rear window in as well as the side windows on one side, and so I have started stripping the car down. The car has been stored on a farm so is kind of (very) dirty (mossy and dusty, seats starting to get dampish). The shell itself is mechanically fine, although one of the bolts for fastening the fuel tank has sheared off and there a few mild rust patches starting to appear by the front window.

In any case, the engine ran last time I used it and the car was fine. I don't really fancy taking the engine out myself (no hoist), so if anyone is interested in taking the car away, I'd rather see someone get some use from it. As stated, the car is a SPI 1.3 with a 5 speed box. I used to really enjoy driving this car.

The car is missing its rear shocks (but I have the old ones to fit) so at the moment is only on the springs. It is also missing a front passenger side wing, but I have an unsprayed (but weathered, as I used it for a year unsprayed?!) one if anyone is interested. It is also missing the mirrors, rear bumper, rear lights, seat belts, most bits in the dashboard and mats.

Basically, the car needs a rebuild but if anyone was looking for a stripped down shell so they could start doing something amazing with it, PM me!!!

Cheers

Rich

Bump! Just a quick message to say that I'm likely to scrap it within the next week or so, so if anyone is interested, give us a PM.

Cheers again
