I Brought a project 6n2 mk 5 polo as a project. It needed minor touch ups on it. When i brought it i noticed the ABS sensor sign was on the dash borad. I took it to a friend to do a health check diagnostics on it. It came up with a rear senor being faulty.

I went and brought a Sensor which cost me £19, my mate carried out the work by connecting the new sensor. He attached the diagnostics machine to it to clear the ABS light on the dash board but it didn't want to go off??????

We were both a bit confuused to why the light on the dashboard was still on???? On the machine it didn't read that the sensor was still faulty????? It was cleared on the machine????

Very confused now.

We then took the battery leads off for a minute or so then put them back on again, still the ABS light was still on the dash. I noticed couple of 15amp fuses missing from the fuse compartment just were the battery sits.

I put in 3 x 15amp fuses, put the ignition on, (not completely just so the light comes on the dash board) And guess what the problem was solved.

If any comes up with this sort of problem in the future, firstlt try and see if there is any fuses that have blown or missing. this could save you pounds on diagnostics and parts and labour. It would have saved me a lot of money if i knew if it was just the fuses.

If it is not the fuses then it is definetely the sensor. Hope this is of help to you guys.

I just changed my 2 and I drove the car about 5 miles then turned itself off :)

Think it rearranging itself - sure someone on here will say.
