My Shop is having trouble finding a M11 1.5 spiral cut tap? What are people doing about this?

It doesn't need to be spiral flute Mark although that does help but there is loads of m11 x 1.5 tap sets on eBay it's a standard thread it's m11 course

Yeah I found those but they did say it should be Spiral. I don't know its just what their type of CNC needed or not... was thinking that perhaps using a M10 Spiral and then a normal M11 Straight.

You can't use an m10 then m11 totally different sizes

If they can't source a spiral flute (spiral is to help clear swarf while tapping easier like a drill bit basically)

To use on their cnc I would get standard flute taps and do it by hand after drilling or use a manual milling machine to do it

Il be using a manual milling machine to drill my block and then may just hand tap the threads after

Sorry Yeah I wasn't thinking.. I kinda meant drill it out and then use the M11 standard Tap..

Wire erosion is so cool though, you expect it to look rough and shit and be inaccurate but it's really not :)

you found ones that fit? Also I think they are more expensive than the VW ones..

I'd imagine they'd be able to sort you with something - probably ~£80-90 a set however they're safer at revs.

Think I paid around £40 for a set for my AEE from TPS (OEM ones)

ARP are the way to go and they are reusable too as they aren't stretch bolts I e got them in my forged rods

20vt rods but very modified an il be doing a guide to properly turboing the afh soon as mine is all done and running

20vt rods 144mm? Guessing you have modified to fit the correct guideon pin size and bring to correct thickness.

I've started to hoard parts for my turbo conversion, that will not happen for a while, wanted those pistons that you got but didn't have the money at the time looks like i'll have to buy them new for the extra £100 when the time comes.

Rod's seem to be the part that I am unsure on what to get, dont fancy buying expensive aftermarket forged ones so may have to look into modifying some oem ones.

I have seen on someone elses thread that they have used modified g60 rods for a boosted 1600cc set up but think they are using standard pistons.

I need to get my head right into this and give it a good think workout cr ratio with different length of rods and pistons.

the bolts are M8 x 1 x 45mm. I did think about ARP bolts but as my engine isn't going to be that tuned from standard and the fact that I'm not planning of rebuilding the engine that often.. if at all then I'll stick to the standard ones. :)
