I keep reading in a certain magazine mainly about how rubbish the German modified car scene got and is at the moment. Apparently their show cars are now laughable and now more to do with 'bolting things on'. Can anyone shed any light on this by way of pictorial evidence?

Believe me, as a Dutchmen I tend to see German cars on a regular basis, boy oh boy, how can those Germans just rape the crap out of a car :(

why do all the mk2f's have those shitty saxo type mirrors on? I like the blue G40 but the mirrors would have to go as would the lights.

Mainland Europe was where the "British euro scene" got their ideas, Germany and the like were generally leading the 'euro style' while us Brits were taking influences from the Japs, with bodykits etc. Things have just seemed to of changed hands in the last few years, since the fast n furious era

The Germans were smoothing everything and fitting small dished wheels on decked cars while us Brits were rocking 17s and adding DTM and Jap style kits

As for them cars posted, id rather drive some of them, which have clearly had some time and money spent, then some bland looking car with wheels too wide for the car and tyres that dont fit

To be fair aswell, regularly travelling back and for to schlewswig holstein (At least once a month) the german standard of cars i see are very good, with a variety of different styles, from euro to JDM done on a variety of cars and tbh I've seen some kitted out saxo's and the like in some jap style body kits, and while it isnt my kinda of scene the craftsmanship on fitting and making the kit/car is vwery well done.

So TBH I would say PVW are very inaccurate with saying that the german scene is going down hill. Its just unfortunately with alot of peoples attitudes with regards to the scene there into, if it doesnt fit then it simply isnt good

Nothing wrong with a bodykit if it works with the shape of the car imo.

Saw this when i was at the ring, I'm not a great fan of the lights n kit but it does all kinda work. And the quality of the work, they sure know what they are doing over there.

The late 90s were very dark days for styling. It was all about the tacky messy excuse of a chopped up cereal packet with bits of bean can added,as a ten year old copy of Fast Car or Max Power will confirm.

If the Germans were known for their sense of humour,one would be inclined to think they're taking the piss.

OK, yeah this is very much what I was expecting. Reminds me of when I first started reading Max Power in 6th Form. But now, I just don't like it! Most of the above add ons just don't suit the car's existing designs - they're probably done to a high standard and I'm sure people love them and I would never diss a scene for doing what they want...at least it is different to what others are doing at the moment, even if it is what we did way back when.

The UK's scene has moved on though, and so have the mags. You don't see stuff like that in Max any more.

I do think we're due a bit of a bodykit renaissance though. Stuff like the old Dimma kits would look really cool stanced properly on a set of massively dished rims. I know the Dub scene won't really latch onto it though.

TBH I reckon there's nothing wrong with a kit as long as it suits the car. And people seem to forget that things like R32 bumpers and skirts are a bodykit too...

I dont mind body kit's but the only reason i say they look horrible on most cars is because of that tacky shitty nasty silver mesh they put in the grills on the bumpers and that.

If they made black honey comb grills for these aftermarket bumpers i would probly have a bodykit.
