But just stumbled across this - Max Power cover car back in 1999, 306 saloon with a two door conversion built by Ecosse.

Don't remember a 306 estate - Max had a cream and brown Ecosse kitted 206 SW on wire wheels though? It was still around when I started.

Nah this was blue and silver, blue on top silver bottom iirc. Had a huge bonnet vent thing, i loved it because it different at the time they made it :-D

Whenever people bring up Nineties modding it's always mentioned with crap examples - the really good Nineties cars were built really well and still have it today. It's when things when cheap and ugly in the early Noughties, as the scene got obsessed with ill-fitting kits and huge but skinny wheels that it all went a bit shit shaped.

I'll dig up some decent examples when I'm not posting from an iPhone. Seriously though some of them wouldn't take much to update. Companies like Image wheels are nothing new in the modified scene. Nineties cars often had the most mental wide rims to fill out flared arches. Wound down a little lower and with a few updates they'd be mint now. Trust me.

Looking forward to your examples - I am really after what was good about the 90s!

and it had throttle bodies at one point too, when most people thought the 16v was the height of mk1 conversions

still around i think, although it just looks like every other mk1
