Yeah the guys there are very helpful. All i was doing was a 1 week trial and they treated me like they'r own <3

On a 'money-note' does anyone know if i can claim for either E.M.A or an adult-learning-grant? I'm 18 but living at home with 'folks.

Defo gunna make this 1 work, I've been stuck in too many dead-end jobs with nothing 'fun' happening.

Its like getting paid to play football =D

Little update- found out how much I'm getting paid =)

Its around 7400£ a year which is about 150£ a week =)

4days at work (32hours) and 8 hours college for 1 day

Just above minimum wage I've been told

8 hours collage? lucky you do you not have to travel to milton keynes for collage?

i go for a week at a time every so often

you are lucky going from buckinghamshire to MK i have to go from blackpool to leicester on the same basis as u and i work for EH Peugeot

Well done mate. I started an apprenticeship at a place where they build luxury RIB's in september. Finding it good so far, still trying to get used to getting up at 6.45 every day though!

I'm on shit pay, £160 a week, but it still works out to be more than my old Co-op job used to be so its alright. Once I've finished though I'll be on a decent wage and my mates who have just come out of uni will be £30K in debt so its win win for me I think.

I have an apprenticeship with vw, Iv just gone in to my second year now, tbh theres a bit of me that wishes i would have stayed back street to learn more quicker, but atleast my cv will look fgood at the end of it.

And the pays always shit in an apprenticeship, I'm 20 now and i was earning around 14K a year in a dead end job, and iv been living off under 6K a year since i started, its hard but you just got to think what you get out of the end of it.

well done and avoid the parts cages ;).

I have to travel from Glastonbury to Bridgwater, isn't too bad for me though i havva petrol car and now looking into getting a diesel as its costing me about 25-30£ a week =/ kinda sucks the wage I'm on, but in all fairness I'm not a trained mechanic and i wouldnt have a clue what to do if i was left on my own xD

Congrats! i started my apprenticeship with airbus 1 month ago and loving it!! hope you enjoy yours!

Hey, sorry to hijack the thread a bit, but how old were you guys when you started your apprenticeships? I'm 21 and completely sick of my job. Want to learn a trade but my understanding is i'd have to pay for all the learning now. any advice?

Check that out, has the basic info regarding apprenticeships. You can sign up for free and fill out the basic information they ask for. Then you can go on and check out the positions available within your area.

As for being 21, I'm not too sure, i think its 19's and under who get it free (college). Not overly sure if this applies to apprentice's. Worth looking into bud, goodluck

Great News WELL DONE! And of course Good Luck!

Cheers

I', 18 and just started, the other apprentice my employer has taken on is 22, but neither of us have to pay anything as we attended a pre apprenticeship scheme meaning the government will pay for our apprenticeships.
