How badly is insurance affected by a CAT C car?

Featured Replies

I currently own a 9N and I want to downgrade so i can pull a car apart and have it the way i want it without worrying about breaking it.

I’ve seen a category C car going cheap

Would anyone know how badly this car would affect my insurance?

I'm 18 , paying 1800 a year for a 1.9 TDi sport.

I'm asuming going to a 2000 1.4 16v CAT C would push it up alot.

i shouldnt think that the car being a previous write off would push it up particulary high but the fact your 18 and wanting a 1.4 16v may push it up i owned a car that had been written off twice and it didnt affect my insurance best thing to do is ring a few places and see what they say about if they come back with positive quotes then go for it but if they come back with quotes higher then id be more tempted to wait and buy one next year
