Ok first what you own is what we call a Mk6, or more commonly a 9n. (it looks like this right: http://www.memm.de/polo/9n_preston500.jpg )

You can change the lights but would have to change the whole unit. Best bet is to do a search on Google or eBay for any aftermarket lights. You may be able to fit the 9n3 headlights but that would require changing the bumper and stuff like that

Best bet is to get projector like headlights to hide the gayness of the standard ones

On a serious note you could tint them yellow or somthing may look cool!
