Polo Mk2 F Reg Breadvan

Featured Replies

Hi All - please help!!!!!

I am trying to install an Alpine head unit in my Mk2 Polo Breadvan (f Reg) and thought this would be striaght forward as it has the ISO connections still in place.

When connected up nothing happens at all - no power at all to the head unit. This is regardless if the ignition/engine is on or not.

Can someone please help????? I have checked the inline fuse on the stereo and this appears to be ok.

Thanks

Connectors may need to be swapped around on the connector block.

What do you mean? Can you explain a little further? I'm not that great with the electrics side of things....

think you'l find the standard polo just had one live , the modern units will need a live and a ign live

Yeah, steveo is right, my 89 car had only one constant live, easiest thing to do is chop the ISO blocks (mine were already done) and use junction boxes

To make the stereo switch on/off with the key, splice into the rear window demister (black and yellow wire) run a wire and connect it to the switched live wire on your head unit

from there brown should be ground and red should be constant live
