lol

that with your parents on?

Many young lads just dont mod there cars in there first year

its worth getting a years no claims before making changes etc.

You'll struggle to find a company that want a 17 year old with a modded car. As most 17 year olds wrap there cars around lamposts in the first year lol

i really feel sorry for young people these days as far as insurance goes, it's no wonder so many either don't bother with insurance or don't declare mods with quotes like that.

My insurance for a 1litre 6n is £1900 but when i asked about putting my coilovers on it changed to £4200. Best bet is not to mod your car until a years no claims and just ring around but i do feel for you mate its real pisstake.

No offence but you shouldve thought about that before modding it!

Insurance seems to go up every year because of young drivers having accidents! Mine was only £950TPFT when I passed ;)

young people have always crashed so it's not like you can blame them, most of it is due to personal injury claims.

^ true

and fake crashes are common now,pay a fee and someone will drive your car claiming to be you and create an accident, its a big buisness apparently

hear that in one area of birmingham theres been a huge rise in claims and its because crooks are swinging a door open on a clients car as someone passes, then get paid a cut of the payout..

one crash and its the cost of the damage, then whiplash, depression, loss of job? its being exploited to fuck

it all means higher prices for us all

its a piss take it realy is

1 in 6 people now dont bother with insurance, those that do have to pay £35 per year to cover them that dont pay, think about that next time your in a traffic jam (1 in 6)

I'm sure if insurance companys made insurance cheaper they would have to payout more claims but they would also have a hell of a lot more people paying for car insurance

but i also think new drivers (any age) should be limited to a 1.4 and no mods for 2 years.

my second car at 18 was a Rover 420gsi sport turbo first thing i did was changed turbo for a hybrid 240bhp when i think oabout it thats just insane, my insurance was £2400 11 years ago but i now pay £640 for a modded Mitsubishi GTO twin turbo

it just dont pay to be young today, and as already said although it pisses me off I'm not one bit suprized people dont bother with insurance

but i also think new drivers (any age) should be limited to a 1.4 and no mods for 2 years.

But that wouldnt help, for example when I had just passed I looked at every insurance quote I could manage and the two most expensive things i tried to insure were a 1.3 starlet at like £4000, and a 0.6 suzuki cappacino, cheapest quote £7800!

It is a joke but it's just one of those things, it's not fair at all, but just hold out a couple of years and build your no claims and the price will be a fraction of what it is

you should seriously give Admiral multi-car a try.

I did it on my loon, it was a 1.6 8v cheapest i could find to start with was £1700 (I'm 20, 2 yrs driving, 2 yrs ncb....). So then i tried with multi-car, and it came out as £680 a year for fully comp cover. So saved me over a grand, AND it also saved my mum and dad £130 each too!!! its seriously well worth a look. We now insure 3 cars with 3 drivers on each for under £1k in total.

I wonder why they bother insulting people with huge quotes though, surely it would be faster for them to just display a picture of a hand sticking two fingers up at you....

in answer to your original question, admiral are very good with young drivers and mods.

however i would definitely wait a year, i just got my years no claims and my insurance on a 1.4 8v 6n with coilies declared is £950.

not too bad for an 18 year old.

Elephant/Admiral with parents as named drivers have been quite kind to me recently, give them a go man.

BrentAcre and Adrian Fluxx are for modded specialist insurance (Y)

I'm with Brentacre and i couldnt get a quote below 1.3k anywhere else. With them for £800. With ALL mods declared.

Brentacre? Are they a new company?

I've heard of brentrace but not brentacre!

Insurance as a whole has gone up alot lately, partly due to the increase in dodgy claims, and people suddenly having "whiplash"

But it's also to do with some companies being swallowed by the recession, such as Quinn Direct and a few others which have gone under recently.

My insurance has gone up for the first time ever, even though I've not claimed or anything.

Premiums for young drivers are outrageous in my opinion, 3k to insure a £250 car is ridiculous, yet it's a typical quote. I'm also not surprised why so many people drive uninsured, a £200 fine isn't gonna deter many people. And I can completely understand why so many people drive around as named drivers.

Brentacre? Are they a new company?

No.

Where are you getting quotes for 4K?

If its online bollocks like compare the meerkat then fuck them off. you need to actually ring them up for quotes.

Went online for a quote on a modded 1.3 genesis, cheapest initially came up as £2300. Spent the afternoon phoning round got it down to £390, I'm 42, full no claims on my main car, been driving 23yrs.

My lads cheapest quote was £1500 fully comp shared driving with his mum, that's with the co-op, on his own the cheapest was £1900 tpft, and he earns no claims on this policy

[Hi,

How old is your lad and what car is he insuring?

Just trying to get my lad (17 in two weeks,) on a 2001 1.4 Match and its a joke.

Best regards,

Chris.
