Car normally starts pretty well (only had it for a week)

But occasionally (like now) it just wont start at all.

First i was told it could be corrosion in the fuel tank blocking the fuel flow.

But when I'm turning it over now theres a heavy smell of petrol - It just doesnt start.

Would this be down to no spark?

have you checked for spark? if its stinking of fuel then you most likelty haven't

check and rule that out before anything else

Not yet, I'm gonna check it tomorrow.

Just need to know what could be causing it - I'm short for time

Right, There was no spark coming from the main lead from the coil (When lay near the metal surround of the distributor cap or body of the car)

I replaced the coil this morning and it started up 1st time, Did it a few more times to make sure.

Just tried to start it up about an hour later and its doing exactly the same thing.

What the hell could be causing it now?
